Abstract Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) show potential application in many domains, which photochromic MOFs (PMOFs) have received enormous attention. Researchers mainly utilize photoactive ligands to build PMOFs. Recently, the mixed electron donating and accepting strategies also been used construct PMOFs driven by transfer between nonphotochromic moieties. Multistimuli-responsive crystalline materials have a wide range of application prospects. However, development new multistimuli-responsive remains full challenge. In this work, taking symmetrical modified extended viologen (ExV)-based carboxylate 1,1-bis(4-carboxybenzyl)-2,5-bipyridyl thiophene dichloride (H2L·Cl2) as ligand and terephthalic acid (PTA) an auxiliary ligand, 3D MOF material {[Cd2(L)(PTA)2]·3H2O}n (Cd-MOF-1) was constructed successfully. Cd-MOF-1 shows distinctive photochromic electrochromic properties, which can be attributed to the formation radicals induced by electron transfer (ET) under external photo/electricity stimuli. Furthermore, title compound also displays photomodulable fluorescence sensitive distinguishable color response propylamine (PA) vapor relative other amine molecules. The selectivity toward volatile vapors may caused differences in size or propelling capacity amines. addition, character makes it suitable for ink-free erasable printing. Designing and developing novel photochromic materials with additional functions such as photothermal conversion photocatalysis are challenging but meaningful objectives. Crystalline naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based hybrids an attractive class of multifunctional fast-response photoinduced electron transfer charge separation properties. They promising photocatalysts. Herein, a hybrid material, EuPMo11O39(L)1.5(H2O)2]·DMA (EuMo-NDI) (L = N,N'-di(1-oxido-4-pyridyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide), was prepared solvothermal method, integrating photoactive NDI derivative Eu-substituted polyoxometalate. EuMo-NDI exhibits 0D structure sensitive behavior under UV-vis light irradiation due to between its components. The colored sample demonstrated efficient near-infrared the strong absorption photogenerated radical anion NDI•- mixed valence heteropoly blue in region. Meanwhile, is easily excited presence donors form species, which can activate inert O2 superoxide O2•-. exhibited high photocatalytic activity for C-3 thiocyanation indoles mild conditions using white driving force. Multiresponsive color-changing materials have important applications in daily life. In this work, three photochromic, thermochromic, and electrochromic compounds were synthesized by introducing two kinds of polyoxometalates into the viologen system, namely, {[Ni(dibipy)(4,4′-bipyH)(H2O)3]·[Ni4(H2O)2Ge2Mo18O68(MoO2)2]0.5}·10H2O (1), {[NiII(nibipy)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]·(SiMo12O40)}·2H2O (2), [(Hnibipy)2·(SiMo12O40)]·2.5H2O (3) (dibipy·Cl = 1-(3,5-dimethyl-isoxazol-4-ylmethyl)-[4,4']bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride, nibipy·Cl 1-(4-Nitro-benzyl)-[4,4']bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride 4,4′-bipy 4,4′-bipyridine). Compound 1 contains Mo-capped weakley anion [Ni4(H2O)2(Ge2Mo18O68(MoO2)2]8–, which is very rare polyoxometalates. Both 2 own mixed organic ligands to modify anions, such as 4,4′-bipy. Compounds 3 exhibit fast responsive photochromic effects, while compound has rapid recovery thermochromic properties. Sandwich-type rigid devices based on 1–3 also addition, hydrogels poly(methyl methacrylate)-based matrix membrane systems introduced achieve portable visual UV detectors.
