Multiresponsive color-changing materials have important applications in daily life. In this work, three photochromic, thermochromic, and electrochromic compounds were synthesized by introducing two kinds of polyoxometalates into the viologen system, namely, {[Ni(dibipy)(4,4′-bipyH)(H2O)3]·[Ni4(H2O)2Ge2Mo18O68(MoO2)2]0.5}·10H2O (1), {[NiII(nibipy)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]·(SiMo12O40)}·2H2O (2), [(Hnibipy)2·(SiMo12O40)]·2.5H2O (3) (dibipy·Cl = 1-(3,5-dimethyl-isoxazol-4-ylmethyl)-[4,4']bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride, nibipy·Cl 1-(4-Nitro-benzyl)-[4,4']bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride 4,4′-bipy 4,4′-bipyridine). Compound 1 contains Mo-capped weakley anion [Ni4(H2O)2(Ge2Mo18O68(MoO2)2]8–, which is very rare polyoxometalates. Both 2 own mixed organic ligands to modify anions, such as 4,4′-bipy. Compounds 3 exhibit fast responsive photochromic effects, while compound has rapid recovery thermochromic properties. Sandwich-type rigid devices based on 1–3 also addition, hydrogels poly(methyl methacrylate)-based matrix membrane systems introduced achieve portable visual UV detectors. Abstract Inkless and erasable printing (IEP) based on chromic materials holds great promise to alleviate environmental sustainable problems. Metal–organic polymers (MOPs) are bright platforms for constructing IEP materials. However, it is still challenging design target MOPs with excellent specific functions rationally due the intricate component‐structure‐property relationships. Herein, an effective strategy was proposed rational IEP‐MOP The stimuli‐responsive viologen moiety introduced into construction of give potential behaviors two different coordination models (i. e. bilateral model, M 1 ; unilateral coordinated 2 ) same ligand were designed. Aided by theoretical calculations, model recommended secondarily as a more suitable system Along this line, representative viologen‐Zn II synthesized successfully. Experiments exhibit that does have quicker stimuli response, stronger color contrast longer radical lifetime compared . Significantly, obtained 1‐IEP media brightly inherits characteristics flexibility paper at time, which achieves most daily requirements, well enough resolution durability be used in identification smart device.

Security printing is of the utmost importance in information era. However, excessive use inks and paper still faces many economic environmental issues. Thus, developing erasable inkless security materials a remarkable strategy to save resources, protect environment, improve security. To this endeavor, photoresponsive lanthanide-polyoxometalate-doped gelatin film with high transparency was developed through solution casting method. Attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed electrostatic hydrogen bond interactions between lanthanide-polyoxometalate. Absorption spectra, luminescent digital images indicated that displayed reversible photochromism behavior accompanied by switching property upon exposure UV irradiation oxygen (in dark) alternately, which allowed its potential application as reprintable medium for printing. The printed can be erased dark, reused again. exhibited excellent erasability, reprintability, renewability, low toxicity. In addition, multiple encryption strategies were designed This work offers an attractive alternative constructing terms simplifying preparation process, saving protecting environment.
