Abstract
Aqueous
zinc
ion
batteries
(ZIBs)
hold
promises
as
a
safer,
more
cost‐effective,
and
environmental‐friendly
alternative
to
lithium‐ion
batteries,
especially
for
stationary
energy
storage.
Recent
advancements
in
protective
anode
coatings,
which
fine‐tune
solvation
structure,
have
yielded
significant
improvements
the
aqueous
ZIB
performance,
addressing
dendrite
formation
side
reactions,
thereby
prolonging
cycle
lifetime.
Understanding
underlying
mechanisms
of
these
coatings
ions
sieves
is
crucial
further
optimization
achieving
long‐term
stability,
key
requirement
practical
applications.
This
concept
explores
recent
developments
from
view
molecular

out
future
research
directions.
