Shale gas flowback and produced water (SGFPW) represent a reservoir of diverse valuable halophilic microbial resources with profound implications for both shale production SGFPW treatment strategies. However, current research is limited, especially in China. To address this gap, we conducted an extensive study the community compositions within originating from three prominent blocks Sichuan Basin, Our findings underscored coexistence halotolerant bacteria, methylotrophic archaea, eukaryotes SGFPW, revealing remarkably intricate ecosystem. Intriguingly, archaeal structure exhibited striking similarity across all samples, implying consistent composition regard. Moreover, salinity was identified as pivotal factor shaping bacterial SGFPW. Although divergence species abundance core genera observed among distinct their dominant potential functions remained consistent. These encompassed sulfate reduction, methane production, denitrification, acid degradation characteristic organic matter comprehensive significantly advances comprehension thereby offering insights to augment overall efficiency management develop efficient biological technologies.
