Paper-based cultural relics often undergo acidification and deterioration during long-term preservation. Accurate detection of paper acidity is great significance to assess aging status extend the preservation lifetime paper-based relics. Rapid identification degree acid distribution across multiple regions essential. Inspired by fluorescent sensing technology, pH-sensitive cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) rhodamine B (RB) probes are synthesized incorporated onto nanofibers a bacterial cellulose (BC) membrane enable visual paper. Due complementary pH range CdTe QDs RB probes, composite BC exhibits clear response an acidic neutral (pH 3.0-7.5). Notably, contrasting colors two within allow for easy visualization with naked eyes. A distinct color transition from red green was observed on when it applied model gradient distribution. The feasibility this method verified using flat-headed electrode method. Additionally, common metal ions in most fillers, inks, pigments, as well some sugars amino acids showed minimal interference membrane, highlighting its potential broad applicability

Abstract The second near‐infrared window (NIR‐II) fluorescence imaging has been widely adopted in basic scientific research and preclinical applications due to its exceptional spatiotemporal resolution deep tissue penetration. Among the various fluorescent agents, organic small‐molecule fluorophores are considered most promising candidates for clinical translation, owing their well‐defined chemical structures, tunable optical properties, excellent biocompatibility. However, many currently available NIR‐II exhibit an “always‐on” signal, which leads background noise compromises diagnostic accuracy during disease detection. Developing activatable probes (AOSFPs) accurately reporting pathological changes is key advancing toward application. This review summarizes rational design strategies AOSFPs based on four core structures (cyanine, hemicyanine, xanthene, BODIPY). These hold substantial potential translation. Furthermore, recent advances bioimaging comprehensively reviewed, offering clear guidance direction further development. Finally, prospective efforts advance outlined.
