Catalysis stands as an indispensable cornerstone of modern society, underpinning the production over 80% manufactured goods and driving 90% industrial chemical processes. As demand for more efficient sustainable processes grows, better catalysts are needed. Understanding working principles is key, last 50 years, surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) has become essential. Discovered in 1974, SERS evolved into a mature powerful analytical tool, transforming way which we detect molecules across disciplines. In catalysis, enabled insights dynamic surface phenomena, facilitating monitoring catalyst structure, adsorbate interactions, reaction kinetics at very high spatial temporal resolutions. This review explores achievements well future potential field catalysis energy conversion, thereby highlighting its role advancing these critical areas research.

Photoinduced Cleavage of Respiratory Syncytial Virus by Chiral Vanadium Trioxide Nanoparticles DOI

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) poses a significant threat to the health of infants, children, and elderly, as now there is lack effective therapeutic drugs. To tackle this challenge, chiral vanadium trioxide nanoparticles (V2O3 NPs) with particle size 2.56 ± 0.34 nm are successfully synthesized, exhibiting g-factor value 0.048 at 874 in terms circular dichroism. Under 808 light irradiation, these V2O3 NPs demonstrated selective cleavage RSV pre-fusion protein (RSV protein), effectively blocking its conformational rearrangement preventing infection both vitro vivo. Experimental analysis revealed that specifically bind functional domain spanning from aspartate200 (D200) asparagine208 (N208) primary sequence protein. Notably, L-V2O3 exhibited higher affinity, which 4.06 times D-V2O3 13.55 DL-V2O3 NPs. The precise cutting site located between amino acid residues leucine204 (L204) proline205 (P205), attributed reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by photoinduced nanoparticles. In addition, inhibited 99.6% nasal epithelial cells 99.2% Vero cells. Sensitive recognition of enantiomer has aroused extensive interest due to its importance in diverse fields ranging from pharmaceuticals catalysis and biomedicine. Chiral surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) by chiral plasmonic substrates emerged as a promising tool for the enantiomers with high sensitivity well molecular fingerprinting capability. However, impact states including surface packing density configurations surface-adsorbed molecules on SERS been largely unexplored.
