Characteristics of Typical Intermediate and Semi Volatile Organic Compounds in Shanghai During China International Import Expo Episode DOI

To ensure good air quality during China International Import Expo (CIIE) episode, stringent emission-reduction measures were implemented in Shanghai. better assess the efficacy of these measures, this study explored four typical categories intermediate/semi volatile organic compounds (I/SVOCs), including alkanes (C10–C26 n-alkanes and pristane), EPA-priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), alkylnaphthalenes, benzothiazole (BTH) chlorobenzenes (CBs), at an urban site Shanghai before two CIIE episodes (2019 2020; non-CIIE versus CIIE). The average concentrations PAHs both 2019 2020 decreased by approximately 41% 17%, respectively, compared to periods. However, decline was only observed for BTH CBs CIIE-2019. Under atmospheric conditions, secondary aerosol (SOA) production from alkanes, together 671 ± 446 ng/m3, with considerable SOA contributions dimethylnaphthalenes BTH. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) source apportionment further revealed that life-related sources making a noticeable contribution (21.6%) except commonly concerned gasoline-vehicle (31.5%), diesel-related emissions (20.8%), industrial (18.6%) ship (7.5%). Our results provide valuable insights into effectiveness episodes, reduction I/SVOCs emissions, highlight more I/SVOC individual species should be considered research policy design.

This study addresses the increasing concern about naphthalene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), highlighting its growing threats to environment and aquatic life. The research examines impact on Anabas testudineus (Bloch) through detailed dose-specific bioenzymological analysis. Experimental fish groups were exposed T1 (0.71 mg/L) T2 (1.42 naphthalene concentrations, representing 25 50% of LC50 value, respectively, over 1–21 day period. Following experiment, water samples underwent physicochemical analysis, while tissues examined for diverse parameters. Among these parameters, aspirate aminotransferase (AST) alanine (ALT) serve as crucial indicators monitoring physiological status addressing pollution induced by PAHs, especially naphthalene. Statistical significance was observed in morpho-pathological changes erythrocyte alterations, particularly presence tear-drop appearance (Tr) positively interacting with swelled cells (Sc), vacuolated (Va), sickle (Sk) (P < 0.05). These findings highlight significant biomarker response exposure. The removal capacity of aftertreatment technologies equipped on diesel exhaust in intermediate and semivolatile organic compounds (I/SVOCs) remains unclear. This study quantified the effect typical (China VI) engine-emitted I/SVOCs, related secondary aerosol (SOA), toxic effects. devices could mitigate emission factors (EFs) by 70.8 ± 3.4 to 82.5 20.9% for 72.7 18.6 77.5 4.2% SOA production, 75.7 9.3 82.4 9.2% equivalent quantity (TEQ). Triphenyl phosphate (TPhP) is a broad-spectrum organophosphate compound widely used as an additive in several products to prevent ignition.
