Owing to the low cost, fast response, easy miniaturization, portable instrumentation, and multiple analyte detection capabilities, electrochemical sensors stand out in realm of sensing thus occupy a prominent place analytical supramolecular chemistry. Over past several decades, recognition biologically environmentally vital analytes via responses (increase or decrease current density), has attracted much attention from chemists. The fabrication through competitive phenomenon known as indicator displacement assay (IDA) made them more realistic for target detection. In this chapter, besides discussing various types techniques sensors, we envisioned diverse IDAbased saccharides, biomarkers, neurotransmitters, other analytes. authors are viewpoint that chapter will meet needs researchers working on design, fabrication, application sensors.

Abstract In this investigation, meso ‐substituted one‐walled phthalimide appended calix[4]pyrrole ( m Pth–C4P) was prepared from pthalimide functionalized dipyrromethane (DPM, 4 ), acetone, and freshly distilled pyrrole via both conventional as well green protocols utilizing the deep eutectic solvent (DES) of N,N' ‐dimethyl urea (DMU) & l ‐(+)‐tartaric acid (TA) in an appropriate ratio 7:3. order to lessen nitrate (NO 3 − ) ion endowed eutrophication peril, Pth–C4P effectively employed a supramolecular adsorbent for sequestration NO aquatic phase. The extensively characterized by FTIR, 1 H‐NMR, SEM–EDX, elemental mapping corroborate synthesis adsorption ion. surface area found be 11.465 2 g −1 pore size 3.2 nm, pointed out mesoporous nature Pth–C4P. Supramolecular alternating polymers (SAPs) were constructed based on orthogonal interactions between an alkylnitrile-tethered calix[4]pyrrole and two different carboxylate-functionalized pillar[5]arene monomers possessing chain lengths. Concurrent anion complexation host–guest utilized by means of calix[4]pyrrole- pillar[5]arene-based molecular recognitions. Characterization multiresponsive behaviors the resulting SAPs characterized a series analyses, including various nuclear magnetic resonance techniques, viscosity measurements, scanning electron microscopy. The also applied to fabrication hierarchical materials with dimensionalities. These include spherical aggregates zero-dimensionality, fibers one-dimensionality, two-dimensional microporous films, finally three-dimensional materials. Current work represents first example recognition is expected be useful for designing preparation advanced, multicomponent synthetic self-assembled systems.
