Introduction Fermentation is a crucial process in cigar manufacturing. Exogenous addition of functional microorganisms for fortified fermentation can further improve tobacco leaves quality. Methods In this study, five Cyberlindnera fabianii strains were isolated from leaves. Their effects assessed by analyzing flavor components and major chemical compositions. Results Among these isolates, four C. demonstrated the ability to enhance overall profile, particularly increasing esters chlorophyll degradation products. Additionally, several strains, F3 F4, also reduced total alkaloid nitrogen content. these, strain F4 exhibited most significant improvements. Sensory evaluation revealed that could mellowness, richness sweetness while reducing irritation off-flavors fermented Discussion Our findings indicate significantly quality through fermentation. This study provides promising microbial agent potential application industry.

In order to conduct in-depth research on the stylistic characteristics of different varieties cigar tobacco leaves (CTLs), we have carried out following work: first, Soxhlet extraction method was utilized for pretreatment 4 CTLs currently available in China. Then, two-dimensional (2D) gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC-TOF-MS) technology applied nontargeted flavoromics analysis CTLs. A total 2117 volatile compounds were identified extracts varieties, encompassing alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and their derivatives, esters, hydrocarbons, alkenes, heterocyclic compounds, aromatics. Results from multivariate statistical analyses (principal component (PCA) orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant (OPLS-DA)) revealed significant differences compound profiles among CTL varieties. Based relative odor activity value (ROAV) analysis, key flavor determined each variety, contributing unique aroma cigars. Overall, shared similar profiles, characterized by sweetness, fruitiness, greenness, nuttiness, floral notes, with BX1 DX2 particularly standing sweetness additionally prominent fruitiness. HY101, however, relatively lacking these attributes compared other 3 Nine differential compounds-1-butanol, 3-methyl; 1-hexanol; benzeneacetaldehyde; naphthalene; benzaldehyde; isophorone; 2-heptanone, furan, 2-pentyl; pyrazine, trimethyl, trimethylpyrazine-were as characteristic markers We believe that this study will not only provide important variety identification but also offer scientific basis improving quality market advantages leaves.

Abstract Aging conditions, including time, temperature, humidity, and flipping frequency, play an important role in the flavor development of cigars. In this study, headspace–gas chromatography–ion mobility spectrometry (HS–GC–IMS) method was used to analyze changes volatile compounds (VFCs) cigars under different aging conditions. A total 82 VFCs were identified from Differences cigar samples shown topographic plots fingerprints. The effects frequency on more than time. When time exceeded 60 days, effect minimal. Moreover, main conditions result a series chemical reactions, Maillard reaction degradation carotenoids. Orthogonal projection latent structures discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) results demonstrated that samples, which subjected various could be distinctly classified. Therefore, integration HS–GC–IMS with OPLS-DA proves sensitive for identifying differentiating diverse This study provides theoretical basis optimizing process improving quality

In order to comprehend the dissimilarities in tobacco quality between Canada and Yunnan, a comparison of aroma components was conducted using GC-MS HPLC analysis, coupled with orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). The study revealed detection total 81 22 non-volatile both varieties leaves. Specifically, there were 102 leaves 103 Yunnan Subsequently, screening performed on these two types leaves, identifying 51 differential components, which accounted for approximately 49.5% overall detected. Among these, exhibited higher concentration comprising roughly 36.4% total, primarily composed semi-volatile organic acids sesquiterpenes. On other hand, characterized by comparatively content 43 constituting 63.6%, including fatty acid esters, phenols, diterpenes, sugars, amino acids. Comparatively, demonstrated elevated levels sesquiterpenes, while esters diterpenes relatively lower. These distinctions potentially contribute varied sensory profiles tobacco.

Cigar tobacco leaves exhibited distinct regional characteristics, and aroma compounds were the key substances determining different style features of cigars. However, differences in characteristics mechanisms compound synthesis have not been fully elucidated. This study collected filler (FTLs) from 5 representative domestic international production regions. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) identified compounds, an wheel was established based on odor activity values (OAV), principal component analysis (PCA) orthogonal partial least squares discriminant (OPLS-DA) revealed major differences. Synthesis pathways differential components further explored using Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes (KEGG). In this study, 56 FTLs. Imported-FTLs (IMP-FTLs) contained higher levels ketones esters, along with moderate nicotine content, a more noticeable sour woody aroma. contrast, Domestic-FTLs (DOM-FTLs) had greater distribution aldehydes, phenols, neophytadiene, presenting prominent bean, burnt-sweet, floral Nine including sclareol, 5-methylfurfural, (
