Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is the major agent of recent outbreaks in piglets, which has caused huge economic losses to global swine industry. Since traditional vaccine strategies cannot provide complete protection for development safe, effective, and economical antiviral drugs urgently needed. For many years, Chinese medicines (TCMs) have been broadly applied viral infectious diseases, exhibiting advantages such as abundant resources, lower toxicity, minimal drug resistance. Many herbal monomers, single extracts derived from these drugs, recipes exhibit significant anti-PEDV effects vitro and/or vivo by targeting multiple sites perspectives, including inhibition life cycle, anti-inflammation effects, enhancement host immune response, modulation reactive oxygen species, apoptosis. However, date, no review published on TCM. Therefore, this summarizes current control PEDV systematically analyses research progress TCMs against PEDV. Furthermore, future directions integration nanotechnology artificial intelligence with are also discussed. This will a valuable reference studies research.

Abstract This Review Paper provides a comprehensive analysis of extraction methods for essential oils, focusing particularly on the innovative Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) technology. Essential derived from various plant parts, are highly valued their aromatic and therapeutic properties, finding applications in industries such as perfumery, aromatherapy, cosmetics, food flavoring. Traditional often face challenges, including prolonged times, excessive solvent usage, risk degrading sensitive compounds. In contrast, MAE has emerged superior alternative, offering significant advantages expedited processes, reduced consumption, enhanced preservation volatile study highlights key findings, optimal parameters MAE, microwave power, time, solvent‐to‐raw material ratios, which collectively influence yield quality oils. Notably, findings this survey, indicates that can achieve up to 40% increase oil compared conventional methods. The review also discusses evolution techniques, initial simple heating advanced systems incorporating infrared temperature sensors magnetic stirrers, improve precision efficiency. By elucidating these advancements, paper underscores transformative impact paving way future research development field. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry (SCI).

Marine macroalgae (commonly known as seaweeds), a rich yet underexplored resource, have emerged promising source of bioactive compounds with potent antioxidant properties. While oxidative stress is critical factor in the pathogenesis numerous chronic diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular conditions, and cancer, macroalgae-derived such polyphenols, carotenoids, peptides, sulfated polysaccharides demonstrated ability to mitigate damage through multifaceted mechanisms. These neutralize reactive oxygen species modulate key cellular pathways involved inflammation apoptosis. Despite significant advancements, gaps persist understanding pharmacokinetics, bioavailability, clinical applications these bioactives. Additionally, inefficiencies traditional extraction methods call for adopting innovative, environmentally friendly techniques that preserve bioactivity. This review synthesizes current knowledge on therapeutic potential macroalgal bioactives, acknowledges contributions other marine algae where relevant, highlights challenges their extraction, proposes future directions research application.
