We study the hydrodynamic interaction between a microswimmer and deformable interface when swimmer can stochastically reorient itself. consider force- torque-free swimmer, modeled as slender body, that execute random orientation tumbles or active Brownian rotations in plane of interface. When is more viscous fluid, our analysis shows both acting on timescales comparable to deformations lead pusher-type rotating away from interface, while enhancing its attraction towards In turn, intrinsic orientational stochasticity favors stronger migration pushers at short times, but long-time limit. However, irrespective viscosity ratio two fluid medium, tendency pusher align parallel suppressed; results for puller-type swimmers are opposite. Our has potential consequences residence time swimming microorganisms near boundaries. Published by American Physical Society 2024

Active colloids, capable of autonomous motion by harnessing energy available in their surroundings, are significance for advancing micro/nanoscale technologies. Light, as a ubiquitous external stimulus to propel the colloid particles, offers unique benefits such remote controllability, flexible tunability, and high temporal spatial resolution. Light-driven active colloids defined particles at that can swim under light irradiation. They, broadly speaking, include micro/nanomotors composed entirely or partially inorganic materials, microdroplets organic matters. propelled primarily relying on light-initiated transformations involving but not limited photochemical reaction, molecule isomerism, pressure temperature changes. In this chapter, we provide comprehensive overview various types associated with propulsion mechanisms related reactions, photoelectrochemical phenomena, photothermal effect, photoisomerisation, well optical momentum transfer. Then, relate them typical models light-driven colloidal systems. Furthermore, summarise uniqueness terms modulation, phototaxis, light-induced swarming, while highlighting important progress towards bionics, cargo capture transport, environmental remediation, biomedical engineering.

Intentional generation, amplification, and discharging of chemical gradients is central to many nano- micromanipulative technologies. We describe a straightforward strategy direct inside solution via local photoelectric surface charging organic semiconducting thin films. observed that the irradiation carbon nitride films with ultraviolet light generates sustained charges in illuminated regions, inducing adjacent solutions charge-selective immobilization surfactants onto substrate. studied these using droplet force gradient sensors, complex emulsions simultaneous independent responsive modalities transduce information on transient temperature, chemistry, concentration tilting, morphological reconfiguration, chemotaxis. Fine control over interaction between local, photoelectrically patterned, their environment yields new method design chemomechanically materials, potentially applicable technologies including microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip devices, soft robotics, biochemical assays, sorting colloids cells.

Aims: this study aims to investigate the impact of simulated skin color and use fiducial markers on accuracy 3D facial scans, comparing two types structured light scanners under constant ambient lighting conditions. Materials Methods: Three mannequins with different colors—black, white, pink—were scanned using based hand-held (infrared blue-light). Each mannequin was without placed defined anatomical landmarks. A total one hundred thirty-two scans were performed converted into standard tessellation language (STL) files. STL files from each scanner compared their respective control point cloud comparison software. Accuracy evaluated root mean square (RMS) values. Descriptive statistics summarized data, a t-test assess differences in RMS values between for type. Results: The infrared showed highest white mannequin, as evidenced by lower pink black mannequins. Adding significantly enhanced scan blue-light achieved comparable that scanner. However, it unable even markers. Conclusions: Within limitations study, affects scans. Scans lighter (white) tones demonstrate higher darker tones. Fiducial enhance an scanner; however, is capture dark skin, addition
