Two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) is one of the premier tools for investigating photoinduced condensed phase dynamics, combining high temporal and spectral resolution to probe ultrafast phenomena. We have coupled an ultrabroadband laser source generated with a hollow-core fiber, compressing pulses pulse duration 8 fs, boxcars 2DES interferometer constructed from only conventional optics. The resulting ultrabroad bandwidth allow superior coverage typically broad molecular line shapes in near-IR/visible region room temperature solutions, exploration excited state dynamics at earliest time epoch complex systems. new spectrometer characterized by examining dye molecule Rhodamine 700 methanol solution. These data exhibit rich vibrational wavepacket unraveling key vibronic couplings between multiple modes. For first degenerate broadband experiment, we demonstrate implementation full-wavelength reference detection correct wavelength-dependent intensity fluctuations. net result 4-5× increased signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio compared acquired without detection, yielding typical S/N = 28. facilitates more rapid acquisition examination samples lower optical densities, thus concentrations, than used experiments. advances will help alleviate demands on precious measurements.
