Abstract Semiconductor photocatalysis is a promising technology to tackle refractory antibiotics contamination in water. Herein, facile situ growth strategy developed implant single‐atom cobalt polymeric carbon nitride (pCN) via the bidentate ligand for efficient photocatalytic degradation of oxytetracycline (OTC). The atomic characterizations indicate that successfully anchored on pCN by covalently forming CoO bond and CoN bond, which will strengthen interaction between pCN. This can efficiently expand optical absorption, increase electron density, facilitate charge separation transfer, promote OTC degradation. As optimal sample, Co(1.28%)pCN presents an outstanding apparent rate constant (0.038 min −1 ) under visible light irradiation, about 3.7 times than pristine spin resonance (ESR) tests reactive species trapping experiments demonstrate 1 O 2 , h + •O − •OH are responsible work develops new way construct single‐atom‐modified provides green highly removal.
