Stemming
from
early
seminal
notions
of
molecular
recognition
and
encapsulation,
three-dimensional,
cavity-containing
capsular
compounds
assemblies
have
attracted
intense
interest
due
to
the
ability
modulate
chemical
physical
properties

encapsulated
within
these
confined
spaces
compared

environments.
With
such
a
diverse
range
covalent
motifs
non-covalent
(supramolecular)
interactions
available
assemble
building
blocks,
an
incredibly
wide-range
capsular-type
architectures

developed.
Furthermore,
synthetic
tunability
internal
environments
gives
chemists
opportunity
engineer
systems
for
uses
in
sensing,
sequestration,
catalysis
transport
molecules,
just
name
few.
In
this
tutorial
review,
overview
is
provided
into
design
principles,
synthesis,
characterisation,
structural
facets
coordination
cages,
porous
organic
supramolecular
capsules,
foldamers
mechanically
interlocked
molecules.
Using
recent
examples,
advantages
limitations
each
system
are
explored,
highlighting
their
application
various
tasks
functions.

Over
the
past
century,
adsorption
has
been
investigated
extensively
in
equilibrium
systems,
with
a
focus
on
van
der
Waals
interactions
associated
physisorption
and
electronic

of
chemisorption.
In
this
study,
we
demonstrate
mechanisorption,
which
results
from
nonequilibrium
pumping
to
form
mechanical
bonds
between
adsorbent
adsorbate.
This
active
mode

metal-organic
frameworks

arrays
molecular
pumps.
Adsorbates
are
transported
one
well-defined
compartment,
bulk,

interface,
thereby
creating
large
potential
gradients

Pillararene/calixarene-based
functional
materials
have
garnered
significant
attention
for
their
unique
topological/chemical
structures
and
physicochemical
properties,
extended
applications

electrochemistry
given
rise

promising
area

research.
This
review
details
current
advance
developing
electrochemical
energy
based
on
pillararene/calixarene
systems
from
the
viewpoint
both
fundamental
theoretical
simulations
research
practical
applications.

discuss
underlying
mechanisms
applying
pillararene/calixarene-based

Abstract
Scientists
have
long
been
fascinated
by
the
biomolecular
machines
in
living
systems
that
process
energy
and
information
to
sustain
life.
The
first
synthetic
molecular
rotor
capable
of
performing
repeated
360°
rotations
due
a
combination
photo‐
thermally
activated
processes
was
reported
1999.
progress
designing
different
intervening
years
has
remarkable,
with
several
outstanding
examples
appearing
last
few
years.
Despite
accomplishments,
there
remains
confusion
regarding
fundamental
design
principles
which
motions
molecules
can
be
controlled,
significant
intellectual
tension
between
mechanical
chemical
ways
thinking
about
describing
machines.
A
thermodynamically
consistent
analysis
kinetics
rotors
pumps
shows
while
light
driven
operate
power‐stroke
mechanism,
kinetic
asymmetry—the

A
hydrophobic
light-driven
rotary
motor
is
functionalized
with
two
18-crown-6
macrocycles
and
incorporated
into
phospholipid
bilayers.
In
the
presence
of
this
molecular
construct,
fluorescence
assays
patch
clamp
experiments
show
formation
selective
alkali
ion
channels
through
membrane.
Further,
they
reveal
a
strongly
accelerated
transport
mechanism
under
light
irradiation.
This
increase
fractional
activity
(up
to
400%)
attributed
out-of-equilibrium
actuation
dynamics
motors,
which
help
overcome
activation
energy
necessary
achieve
translocation
ions
between
along
artificial
channels.
