Abstract Copper nanoclusters with stable compositions and precise structures have long been sought after, as they possess properties that are absent in gold silver counterparts. However, the creation of copper novel compositions, structures, functionalities remains largely unexplored literature. In this study, we demonstrate selenide doping is an effective method for fabricating nanostructures through controlled synthesis structure determination a copper–selenide nanocluster. The nanocluster [Cu 32 Se 7 (BnSe) 18 (PPh 3 ) 6 ] + (denoted Cu , Bn benzyl) has prepared by reducing salts presence organic diselenides. atomic cluster, accurately determined single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, reveals core–shell arrangement 20 @Cu 12 where 2− anions well dispersed framework. Notably, cluster represents rare example semiconductor nanoclusters. Experimental theoretical analysis shows strong interactions between ligands metal atoms, resulting high stability cluster. Furthermore, exhibits excellent catalytic performance hydroboration reaction alkynes, producing range vinylboron compounds adjustable functions. Importantly, undergoes no structural or nuclearity changes during reaction, confirmed extended absorption fine photoelectron spectroscopy studies. This study not only presents molecular model highlighting effectiveness dopants new but also paves way utilizing diverse exciting areas beyond catalysis.

Abstract Despite recent advances in cluster‐based catalysis for organic synthesis, the substrate scope of reactions catalyzed by metal nanoclusters is typically not superior to previously established catalytic systems. Herein, we develop new atomically precise copper protosilylation, with expanding alkenes and simple enynes that were suitable prior synthetic methodologies traditional complexes. The involvement a second center kernel during migratory insertion step thought be responsible expanded scope. In addition, reaction highly compatible water can carried out open air rather than under inert gas protection. Mechanistic studies suggest cluster‐catalyzed protosilylation proceeds absence silyl radicals. current findings demonstrate potential using practical sustainable chemical synthesis.
