Hexavalent chromium (CrVI) is a toxic and carcinogenic pollutant commonly found in industrial waste, posing significant environmental health risks. In contrast, trivalent (CrIII) significantly less mobile water. This study presents the efficient reduction of CrVI to CrIII using biologically inspired non-heme iron complex, [N(afaCy)3FeIIOTf]OTf. The reaction achieves near-quantitative conversion as calculated by paramagnetic 1H NMR calibration method for direct quantification iron(III)-oxo species formed during reduction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirms final containing product. work provides highly effective selective approach detoxification, with potential applications water remediation while demonstrating utility curve quantifying mixtures.
