Abstract The history and driving forces of aeolian activity in western Mongolia remain poorly understood due to the scarcity geological archives. Here, we obtained a record sediment grain size from Tolbo Lake reconstruct changes since ∼14 ka. results suggest that intensified late Holocene may mainly have been response stronger surface winds resulting an increase spring insolation mountain snow. stable weak appears coincide with ice‐rafting events North Atlantic during middle be warming at northern high latitudes, increased humidity vegetation coverage Mongolia, indicating dust would possibly contribute minimally deposition Greenland this period. This study will help understand atmospheric emissions transport processes earth system.

The development of adaptive survival strategies is crucial for human occupation the high-altitude areas Tibetan Plateau (TP). However, history this adaptation and its driving mechanisms are poorly understood. We used records pollen, coprophilous fungal spores, charcoal from a well-dated, high-resolution lake sediment core Southern (STP) to investigate strategies, including arable agriculture pastoralism, spanning past 3600 years. results revealed that were dominated by agriculture, supplemented ~3600 1800 cal yr BP. after BP, strategy shifted low-level with intensified pastoralism. Comparison our findings regional paleoclimatic archaeological transformation was an response drought intensification. This resilience key aspect regions TP during late Holocene. A multiproxy record southern reveals major subsistence changes onset modern pastoral ecology under accelerated climatic drying about years ago.
