Abstract
This
study
provides
formulae
for
monthly
estimates
of
the
Soya
Warm
Current
(SYC)
transport
from
sea-level
difference
(SLD)
across
Strait
and
along
current,
creates
a
50-yr
data
set
SYC
transport.
The
are
based
on
dynamical
balance
both
strait
current
by
considering
barotropic
baroclinic
components.
It
is
suggested
that
components
in
variability
comparable
summer,
whereas
component
dominant
winter.
We
compared
50-year
time
series
with
those
Tsushima

Abstract
The
Sanriku
Confluence
east
of
Japan
is
the
region
confluence
Tsugaru
Warm
Current
from
Sea
Japan,
Oyashio
western
subarctic
gyre
and
Okhotsk,
Kuroshio
water
that
has
detached
subtropical
gyre.
It
a
field
vigorous
stirring
driven
by
variability
in
current
systems,
but
transition
processes
between
masses
have
yet
to
be
clarified.
High‐resolution
underwater
conductivity‐temperature‐depth
observations
were
undertaken
during
each
four
seasons
test
hypothesis
water‐mass
gradient
set
without
full
stirring.
Analyses
isopycnal
coordinates
indicate
seasonal
occurrence
prominent
fronts
both
salinity
displacement,
related
emergence
various
masses.
After
fitting
error
functions
frontal
features,
seasonally
emerging
often
became
extremely
sharp
with
widths
typically
narrower
than
3
km,
supporting
hypothesis.
Disturbances
distinguished
structures
variance
peaks
ranges
similar
or
slightly
greater
baroclinic
Rossby
radius,
likely
large‐scale
tracer
at
this
scale.
Elevated
variances
observed
around
fronts,
caused
isolated
patches
anomalies
also
large.
By
determining
horizontal
scales
which
effects
internal
wave
heaving
becomes
dominant,
we
able
calculate
potential
vorticity
(PV)
balanced
flow
field.
As
PV
negative
near
zero
symmetric
instability
might
developed.

Abstract
The
eastern
part
of
the
Tsugaru
Strait
(located
at
~
41.5°
N)
is
a
remarkable
region
coastal
flow
system
around
Japan
due
to
Warm
Current
(TgWC),
an
intensive
eastward
current
that
flows
over
its
complex
topography
and
exhibits
marked
tidal
variation.
TgWC
has
jetlike
structure
demonstrates
drastic
seasonal
changes
in
path
vertical
structure.
Using
high-resolution
dataset
obtained
from
high-frequency
radar
(HFR)
data
assimilation
experiment
(JCOPE-T
DA),
we
focused
on
frontal
variation,
which
shorter
than
timescale,
along
axis
relation
meanders
jet.
We
found
variations
with
multiple
timescales
between
1
14
days,
especially
summer
autumn.
14-day
occurrence
west
side
Strait,
was
consistent
variation
strait.

HFR

Abstract
Examining
localized
nutrient
supplies
that
facilitate
broader-scale
biological
production
is
imperative
for
comprehending
marine
ecosystems.
Nutrients
transported
vertically
in
specific
hotspot
areas
reach
the
surface
can
be
conveyed
downstream
by
background
currents,
thereby
augmenting
over
a
wider
expanse,
including
robust
currents
traversing
seamounts.
However,
assessing
influence
of
such
transport
on
large-scale
poses
challenges
due
to
spatiotemporal
disparities.
We
present
an
analysis
Tsugaru
Strait,
critical
conduit
linking
Sea
Japan
and
Pacific
Ocean.
Our
investigation
utilizes
high-resolution
current
data
acquired
from
long-term
high-frequency
radar
system
aligned
with
direct
turbulence
measurements.
Shipboard
observations
unveil
significant
diffusive
nitrate
fluxes,
surpassing
open
ocean
levels
factor
10
or
more.
The
intensified
was
associated
heightened
density,
indicative
divergence
field.
A
six-year
statistical
establishes
positive
correlation
between
this
chlorophyll-a
distribution,
aligning
formation
area
hundred-kilometre-scale
anticyclonic
Gyre.
Therefore,
Strait
emerges
as
gyre,
which
renowned
valuable
fishing
ground.
This
discovery
carries
implications
monitoring
conserving
ecosystems
ensure
sustainability.
