In this study, a total of 26 groundwater samples were collected from the northwest Sichuan Basin. Statistical analysis revealed that Ca2+ was predominant cation, followed by Na+, Mg2+, and K+. The anion concentrations order HCO3− > SO42− NO3− F− Cl−. Consequently, Ca-HCO3 identified as dominant hydrochemical type in study area. Geochemical modeling results indicated silicate weathering cation exchange processes primary factors influencing hydrochemistry. To provide an accurate assessment water quality, Comprehensive Water Quality Index (CWQI) applied study. This novel method combined factor entropy-weighted approach to derive integrated weights for quality calculation. CWQI showed 73.08% classified excellent drinking, while 26.92% good. Sensitivity further demonstrated robustness drinking model. findings could contribute enhancement evaluation
