Diaphragmatic breathing is relaxing and therapeutic, reduces stress, a fundamental procedure of Pranayama Yoga, Zen, transcendental meditation other practices. Analysis oxidative stress levels in people who meditate indicated that correlates with lower levels, cortisol higher melatonin levels. It known inhibits enzymes responsible for the antioxidant activity cells strong antioxidant; therefore, this study, we investigated effects diaphragmatic on exercise-induced putative role hormones pathway. We monitored 16 athletes during an exhaustive training session. After exercise, were divided two equivalent groups eight subjects. Subjects studied group spent 1 h performing concentrating their breath quiet place. The subjects, representing control group, same time sitting quite Results demonstrate relaxation induced by increases defense status after exercise. These correlate concomitant decrease increase melatonin. consequence level which suggests appropriate could protect from long-term adverse free radicals.
