Abstract Long working hours continue to pose a challenge for considerable number of employees today. Departing from the predominant focus on detrimental consequences associated with personal overtime work, this study aims investigate influences perceived coworkers (PCWO) employees. We theorised that PCWO may constitute type stressful event and proposed it will lead employees' daily withdrawal responses (i.e. time banditry behaviour turnover intention) through an increase in negative affect (NA). In addition, workaholism have cross‐level impact within‐individual level relationships between their NA responses. tested our theoretical hypotheses using experience sampling methodology (ESM), 111 full‐time reporting experiences over 10 workdays. Results multilevel analysis revealed even after controlling one's own hours, was positively related NA, which, turn, led intention. we also found relationship intention stronger higher (vs. lower) workaholism, supporting moderating role workaholism. Theoretical practical implications are discussed.
