In chronic moderate-to-severe TBI (msTBI), depression is one of the most common psychiatric consequences. Yet to date, there limited understanding its neural underpinnings. This study aimed better understand this gap by examining seed-to-voxel connectivity in depression, with all voxel-wise associations seeded bilateral anterior prefrontal cortices (aPFC). a secondary analysis 32 patients msTBI and 17 age-matched controls acquired from Toronto Rehab Recovery Study database, Personality Assessment Inventory Depression scale scores were used group into an msTBI-Dep (T ≥ 60; n = 13) msTBI-Non-Dep < 19). Resting-state fMRI scans analyzed using seed-based analyses. F-tests, controlling for age education, assess differences aPFC rsFC across 3 groups. After nonparametric permutation testing, left demonstrated significantly increased (p 0.041) right 0.013) fusiform gyri, superior temporal lobe 0.032), precentral gyrus 0.042) compared controls. The had no significant either group. To our knowledge, first examine sample exclusively. Our preliminary findings suggest role pathophysiology depressive symptoms msTBI. Increased aPFC-sensory/motor could be associated vulnerability post-TBI, hypothesis that warrants further investigation.

The environment, especially social features, plays a key role in shaping the development of brain, notably during adolescence. To better understand variation brain-environment coupling and its associated outcomes, we identified ''envirotypes,'' or different patterns environment experience, Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study by hierarchically clustering subjects. Two focal clusters, which accounted for 89.3% all participants, differed significantly on eight out nine youth-report quality measures, representing almost perfect complements. We then applied tools from network neuroscience to show envirotypes are with whole brain functional connectivity. Differences were distributed across but prominent Default Somatomotor Hand systems these clusters. Finally, examined how change over suite outcomes. resulting dynamic along dimensions stability quality, outcomes diverged based stability. Specifically, stable, high envirotype was most easily distinguished improving envirotype, while unstable worst Altogether, our findings represent significant contributions both developmental neuroscience, emphasizing variability dynamicity consequences.
