Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a multifactorial disorder with high prevalence in the general population. OSA associated an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), particularly hypertension, and linked to worse outcomes. Although correlation between CVDs firmly established, mechanisms are poorly understood. Continuous positive airway pressure primary treatment for reducing effectively, while limited by inadequate compliance. Moreover, alternative treatments complications currently not available. Recently, there has been considerable attention on significant gut microbiome pathophysiological changes OSA. Furthermore, impact that arise from Nevertheless, detailed understanding this association lacking. This review examines recent advancements clarify link microbiome, OSA, OSA-related CVDs, specific focus also explores potential health advantages adjuvant therapy targets

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), affecting approximately 1 billion adults globally, is characterized by recurrent airway obstruction during sleep, leading to oxygen desaturation, elevated carbon dioxide levels, and disrupted architecture. OSAS significantly impacts quality of life associated with increased morbidity mortality, particularly in the cardiovascular cognitive domains. The cyclic pattern intermittent hypoxia triggers oxidative stress, contributing cellular damage. This review explores intricate relationship between shedding light on molecular mechanisms potential therapeutic interventions.

Exhaled breath analysis, with particular emphasis on volatile organic compounds, represents a growing area of clinical research due to its obvious advantages over other diagnostic tests. Numerous pathologies have been extensively investigated for the identification specific biomarkers in exhalates through metabolomics. However, transference tests clinics remains limited, mainly deficiency methodological standardization. Critical steps include selection sample types, collection devices, and enrichment techniques. GC-MS is reference analytical technique analysis compounds exhalates, especially during biomarker discovery phase This review comprehensively examines compares metabolomic studies focusing cancer, lung diseases, infectious diseases. In addition delving into experimental designs reported, it also provides critical discussion aspects, ranging from design potential pathology-specific biomarkers.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is an increasingly relevant cause of cardiovascular morbidity worldwide. Although the association between OSA and system well-known, extent its effects still a topic interest, including pathophysiologic mechanisms, sequelae, therapies their effects. Commonly described mechanisms etiologies revolve around sympathetic activation, inflammation, intermittent hypoxia resulting from OSA. Ultimately, these lead to manifestations in system, such as arrhythmias, hypertension, heart failure, among others. The sequelae may also have differential based on gender age; several studies suggest female more susceptibility mortality, well increase age. Furthermore, for OSA, both established emerging, show reduction even reduce burden. Namely, establishment CPAP has led improvement hypertension cardiac function patients with failure reduced progression early stages atherosclerosis. Effective management decreases abnormal neural activity, which results better rhythm control blood pressure control, waking cycles. Abstract Background Sedentary behavior (SB) may contribute to obesity and lower extremity fluid retention, which favor the development of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, linking sedentary OSA is unclear. The purpose this study was determine if there an association between SB OSA. Methods Three typical questions in NHANES questionnaire(①The frequency feeling excessively sleepy per month. ②The gasping, snorting or stopping breathing week. ③The snoring week.) have been used for assessment A physical activity questionnaire(On a day, amount time you spend sitting reclining.) assess SB. This secondary analysis included National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) participants (unweighted = 20,115). Weighted sample multiple logistic regression complex techniques were study. Results After adjustment confounders, with SB(> 8 h/d) had higher risk compared SB(< 4 h/d). Stratified by gender showed that no significant men. women, as reference, with(≥ increased By age-stratified analysis, stronger among older participants. Conclusion Analysis positive OSA, more pronounced women than 60 years old.

Summary Obstructive sleep apnea is a common comorbidity that occurs in individuals with obesity. It classically manifests excessive daytime sleepiness, resulting reduced quality of life, workplace productivity, and an increased risk motor vehicle accidents. Weight gain plays important role its pathogenesis through worsening upper airway collapsibility, current treatment options are targeted towards mechanically overcoming obstruction weight loss. Continuous positive pressure therapy remains the most widely prescribed for obstructive but poor tolerance barrier to effective treatment. Sustainable loss option can be difficult achieve without bariatric surgery. The recent advances incretin‐based pharmacotherapies represent promising avenue not only achieving long‐term also treating apnoea alleviating burden symptoms comorbidities.

Background The association between TyG-BMI index and the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a recently identified biomarker indicating insulin resistance, has yet to be elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed investigate OSA using NHANES database. Methods Analyses were performed on data conducted 2015 2018. Logistic regression, stratified analyses, curve-fitting threshold effects analyses utilized assess OSA. Results included 4,588 participants. Multifactorial logistic regression found significant increased [OR: 1.54 (CI:1.39–1.70)]. In age interacted with association, being associated only in subgroup subjects younger than 60 years [1.31 (1.14–1.50)], but gender, smoking status, alcohol use, did not influence association. presence diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases also modified number such conditions was significantly lower, therefore significance associations observed those subgroups. Additionally, non-linearly associated, inflection point at 12.09, after which lower slope observed. Conclusion This demonstrates that elevated levels are correlated for OSA, underscoring these findings facilitating early prevention or timely intervention

Abstract Background Craniofacial skeletal discrepancies have been associated with upper airway dimensions. Objective To identify differences in volume across different sagittal and vertical patterns. Search methods Unrestricted literature searches eight databases/registers for human studies until May 2023. Selection criteria Cross-sectional measuring volumes using three-dimensional imaging healthy patients of (Class I, Class II, III) or (normodivergent, hypodivergent, hyperdivergent) craniofacial morphology. Data collection analysis Duplicate independent study selection, data extraction, risk bias assessment. Random-effects frequentist network meta-analysis was performed followed by subgroup-analyses assessment the quality clinical recommendations (confidence effect estimates) CINeMA (Confidence Network Meta-Analysis) approach. Results Seventy publications pertaining to 66 unique were included 56 (5734 patients) contributing meta-analyses. Statistically significant found total pharyngeal volume, II having decreased (−2256.06 mm3; 95% Confidence Interval [CI] −3201.61 −1310.51 mm3) III increased (1098.93 CI 25.41 2172.45 compared I. Significant reductions localized mostly at oropharynx, palatopharynx, glossopharynx. increases intraoral cavity, hypopharynx. according configuration seen only where hyperdivergent had reduced normodivergent (−1716.77 −3296.42 −137.12 mm3). Airway configurations (compared I) more pronounced adults than children confidence all estimates very low CINeMA. Conclusions Considerable between configurations. However, results should be interpreted caution due high bias, owing retrospective design, inconsistencies anatomic compartment boundaries used, samples mixed children–adult patients, incomplete reporting.
