Background: Genetic control tools, such as the sterile insect technique (SIT) and genetically modified mosquitoes (GMMs), require releasing males comparable to their wild counterparts. Ensuring that released do not exhibit higher insecticide resistance is critical. This study assessed phenotypic characteristics susceptibility of key dengue malaria vector species. Methods: Phenotypic deltamethrin (0.05%) was tested in two-to-five-day-old male female Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762) (Borabora Bobo strains) Anopheles coluzzii (Coetzee & Wilkerson, 2013) (Vallee du Kou strain) using WHO guidelines. Wing measurements live dead were used assess body size. Results: Mortality rates similar between Ae. (Bobo An. coluzzii, while Borabora fully susceptible both sexes. Females consistently larger than males, with significantly females ones strain. Conclusion: highlights sex-specific differences size susceptibility. Integrating these analyses into management programs essential for success sustainability SIT- GMM-based interventions targeting vectors. Implications integrating genetic strategies are discussed.

Malaria remains a significant public health challenge, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, despite ongoing efforts to eradicate the disease. Recent advancements, including rollout of malaria vaccines, such as RTS,S/AS01 R21/Matrix-M™, offer new avenues for prevention. However, rise resistance anti-malarial medications necessitates innovative strategies. This review explores potential integration CRISPR/Cas9 gene drive technology with vaccination enhance vector control reduce transmission. By employing mechanisms population suppression replacement malaria-transmitting Anopheles mosquitoes, combined immunogenic properties synergistic approach can be established. paper discussed need integrated strategies address biological complexities socio-economic factors influencing its prevalence. Challenges regulatory hurdles, community acceptance, ecological impacts, sustainable funding are examined, alongside implementation within existing programmes. could significantly contribute achieving World Health Organization's targets reduction by 2030, ultimately enhancing outcomes supporting broader development.

Abstract Engineered gene drive (EGD) systems are probably the most high-tech approach considered for their potential role in control of vector-borne diseases. Interestingly, rhetoric around it often goes along with a negative presentation current “conventional” tools and exaggerated promises about EGD themselves, leading to situation hype.
