The
genus
Prevotella
comprises
55
species
with
validly
published,
and
correct,
names
(at
June
2021)
that
are
phenotypically,
ecologically
functionally
diverse.
This
study
used
a
range
of
comparative
genome
approaches
(marker
gene-based
phylogeny,
core
average
amino
acid
identity,
percentage
conserved
proteins
clade-specific
marker
genes)
to
identify
large
differences
between
the
53
for
which
genomes
available,
as
well
two
effectively
published
yet
not
named
four
novel
species.
These
were
consistent

Fecal
microbiota
transplantation
(FMT)
is
highly
effective
against
recurrent
Clostridioides
difficile
infection
