This survey analysed 71 bottled water brands in Tehran, Iran. The laboratory analysis was investigated for ten physicochemical parameters and 16 elements, including heavy metals comprising (bicarbonate, fluoride, chloride, nitrate, nitrite, sulphate, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness (TH), Na, Mg, Ca, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr, Ba, and, Zn). Statistical were performed with R software. quality index (WQI) approach applied to investigate quality, the carcinogen risk (CR) hazard (HI) methods used assessing health risks, cumulative impacts of evaluated contamination degree (Cd) metal evaluation (HEI). results showed that among parameters, EC, TDS, TH, HCO3 like Sr > Zn Cu Ni had Highest values. WQI value totals 91.86 good class, order (60.56%), poor (35.21%), very (4.22%). correlation demonstrated ~ Fe Mn significant coefficients (r = 1). Moreover, there is a between TH Mg Ca also then SO4 Na. Carcinogen Cr children adults 2 × 10−4 6 10−4, respectively. responsible pollutants non-carcinogen assessment F NO3, their HI greater than one adult child subgroups. values Cd HEI lower critical limits. Also, Pb study revealed contains minerals may possess metals, which pose human especially children.

Medicinal plants (MPs) have long been used for their therapeutic properties in traditional forms of medicine. However, the presence potentially toxic elements (PTEs) MPs raises concerns about safety, efficacy, and potential adverse effects on human health. The current study aimed to determine level essential (PTEEs) commonly consumed Zabol, Iran, along with health risk assessments. To conduct present study, 10 types widely were selected, 15 samples each type (150 total) taken. Each sample was analyzed various PTEEs using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) Lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chrome (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) manganese (Mn); Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) arsenic (As) mercury (Hg). Finally, better comprehend scope exposure its possible effects, Monte Carlo simulation method is successfully applied assess risks related PTEs MPs. Statistical analysis revealed statistically significant (P < 0.001) variations PTE averages among MP types. Furthermore, all samples' overall mean concentration (range: 0.18 215.5 µg/kg) below World Health Organization's (WHO) regulatory standards. Probabilistic risks, including non-carcinogenic-target hazard quotient (THQ) element, total target (TTHQ) elements, carcinogenic-incremental lifetime cancer (ILCR) carcinogenic (TCR) significantly lower than acceptable limit children adults. Accordingly, it can be said that consuming sold Zabol safe adults regarding (ILCR/TCR =

Abstract Groundwater serves as a significant source of water for consumption and household purposes. The lack public supply scheme by the government has led individuals to indiscriminately sink boreholes, using drinking fulfilling their domestic needs without following international best practices standards set World Health Organization (WHO) other regulatory bodies in Nigeria, such Nigerian Standard Drinking Water Quality (NSDWQ). utilization this poses risks human health. investigation focused on effects groundwater quality health Aba, Abia state, Nigeria. samples were obtained from ten existing boreholes located near waste dumps mechanic workshops during both dry rainy seasons. analysis psychochemical parameters heavy metals was conducted employing standard methodologies. findings indicated that acidic pH values ranged 4.72 6.28 season 3.42 6.1 season. All study area exhibited elevated levels BOD, COD, DO, cadmium (Cr), chromium (Cr) concentrations surpassed limits water. pollution load index across all demonstrated low level. quantification contamination indicates Cadmium (Cd) at sites originates anthropogenic activities, whereas Zinc (Zn) is derived lithogenic sources Both adults children hazard quotients greater than 1 indices exceeding 1, attributed high Cr, Fe, Cd. Carcinogenic risk 10− 6 4 identified samples, indicating possible collected seasons status deemed unsuitable consumption. results indicate critical necessity treatment sourced dumpsite prior order prevent hazards. Ultimately, it essential remediate dumpsites or permit natural remediation before constructing residential structures installing these areas.

Medicinal plants (MPs) have been valued for their therapeutic properties and are crucial in traditional modern medicine. However, contamination with hazardous substances such as mycotoxins toxic THMs (THMs) poses significant safety concerns. This study quantified the levels of ten commonly used MPs Tehran markets, Iran, assessed carcinogenic non-carcinogenic risks to ensure consumer safety. A total 210 samples were analyzed. THMs, including arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), detected using atomic absorption spectrometry, while aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2) ochratoxin (OTA) measured high-performance liquid chromatography. Risk assessments Target Hazard Quotient (THQ), Index (HI), Incremental Lifetime Cancer (ILCR), Total Carcinogenic (TCR) methodologies. Results revealed variability contaminant (p < 0.05). While heavy metal concentrations within safe limits, mycotoxin exposure posed children, a THQ exceeding acceptable limit. Mycotoxin remained below thresholds. To mitigate risks, storing dry, low-humidity environments is recommended prevent fungal growth reduce contamination, emphasizing need stricter measures.
