Abstract Background According to Dweck's mindset theory, implicit beliefs (a.k.a. mindset) have an organizing function, bringing together mindset, achievement goals and effort in a broader meaning system. Two commonly described systems are growth‐mindset system with mastery positive beliefs, fixed‐mindset performance negative beliefs. Aims Because of assumed heterogeneity within these two systems, we aim (1) examine multiple‐mindset profiles based on by using data‐driven person‐oriented approach, (2) relate different several outcome measures (academic achievement, motivation school burnout symptoms). Sample Self‐report questionnaire data were collected from 724 students (11.0–14.7 y.o.; 46.7% girl; 53.3% boy; M age = 12.8 y.o.). Methods Latent profile analysis was conducted Results Four revealed: one three profiles, which differed their goal levels (low, moderate high). Growth‐mindset low‐ or moderate‐performance had more advantageous outcomes, for example, higher math grades lower symptoms, compared high‐performance goals. Fixed‐mindset the least grades, less intrinsic symptoms. Conclusions Our study emphasizes importance taking holistic approach when examining revealing level including multiple academic outcomes.
