Abstract
This
study
used
a
hydrothermal
approach
to
synthesis
carbon
dots
(CDs)
from
apricot
peel,
which
were
then
as
probe
for
the
selective
and
sensitive
detection
of
Cd
2+
ions.
The
synthesized
CDs’
surface
groupings,
structure,
shape,
biological
nature,
overall
size
examined
using
standard
characterization
techniques.
With
quantum
yield
22.1%,
these
CDs
showed
excitation-dependent
fluorescence
emission.
In
addition,
ions
distinguished
other
metal
by
noticeable
drop
in
intensity.
linear
response
ranging
0–300
μM
threshold
(DT)
0.21
μM,
indicating
its
effectiveness
detection.
Furthermore,
demonstrated
practical
application
detecting
ion
actual
water
samples.

This
review
highlights
Carbon
Quantum
Dots
(CQDs)
as
promising
photocatalysts
for
breaking
down
organic
pollutants,
particularly
in
advancing
CQDs-based
systems
degrading
dyes.
CQDs,
used
alone
or
combined
with
semiconductors,
enhance
performance.
In
scenarios
narrow
bandgaps,
CQDs
assist
separating
charges,
whereas
wider
they
enable
visible/NIR
activity
through
up-conversion
luminescence.
When
integrated
into
Z-scheme
heterostructures,
reduce
recombination
by
facilitating
electron
transfer.
Synthesis
methods—both
top-down
and
bottom-up—are
explored
along
crucial
physicochemical
properties.
Furthermore,
modifying
doping
integrating
functional
groups
on
their
surface
adjusts
characteristics,
more
effective
CQDs-modified
future
research.

feasible

attention

years.

metal-free
photocatalytic
systems
received
lot
recently
ability

organic
contaminants
into
semiconductor
quantum
dots,
which
already
available.
A
class
with

size
between

nm
showing
optoelectrical
characteristics
among
variety
catalytic
dots.
This
review
covers
several
synthesis
techniques
such
as
electrochemical,
laser
ablation,
microwave
radiation,
hydrothermal,
optical
features
CQDs
photoluminescent
(PL)
property
confinement
effect.
The
uses
various
well
difficulties
still
exist
opportunities
lie
ahead
also
been
explored.
