Abstract Our brains have evolved to represent and process sensory information from our environment use it guide behavior. The perception of subsequent responses, such as boredom, however, vary across situations individuals, impressively depicted by patients with attentional disorders who show extensive boredom many situations. Despite these implications, remains unclear how environmental features individual traits act together allow effective transmission information, both factors relate experience. We present a framework address this issue, exposing human participants text stimuli defined objective content, while assessing perceived sentiment. Using theory formalize external internal transmission, we find that lower predicts higher boredom. Moreover, individuals attention deficit hyperactivity disorder compared control sample. Together, delineating the interaction content traits, emerges situational consequence reduced information-decoding, heightened in ADHD.

Abstract Building perceptual and associative links between internal representations is a fundamental neural process, allowing individuals to structure their knowledge about the world combine it enable efficient creative behavior. In this context, representational similarity pairs of represented entities thought reflect linkage at different levels sensory processing, ranging from lower-order up higher-order semantic levels. While recently specific structural features maps were linked with abilities individual humans, remains unclear if these are also shared on lower level, maps. Here, we address question by presenting 148 human participants psychophysical scaling tasks, using two sets independent qualitatively distinct stimuli, probe map structures in auditory domain. We quantify graph-theoretical measures demonstrate robust correlation modality. delineate predict multiple verbal standard creativity, observing that both, features, abilities. Our findings indicate general, modality-overarching geometry an relevant underpinning thought.
