Abstract Lake Bogoria geothermal system is a natural geological site in Kenya that boasts habitat for Flamingos which attract tourists, and its water find applications agriculture recreation. Accordingly, processes, closed systems anthropogenic activities may lead to accumulation of potential toxic metal contamination. The present study focused on the analysis potentially metals — manganese (Mn), cadmium (Cd), (Pb), copper (Cu) nickel (Ni) using atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) spring samples after acid digestion method, evaluated their health risks through dermal ingestion exposures. Principal component (PCA), enrichment factors (EF) Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) were performed determine sources between investigated. Manganese, Cu Ni recorded mean concentrations (ppm) 0.19 ± 0.08, 0.02 0.03 0.02, respectively, below permissible World Health Organisation (WHO) limits, whereas Pb (0.06 0.04) Cd (0.05 0.02) levels above threshold standards. PCA revealed these have originated from regimes surface run-offs. Copper highly enriched indicating an origin. Hazard quotients (HQ) $$>1,$$ > 1 , hence they are precursors non-carcinogenic carcinogenic both children adults. findings this showed possible contamination waters. Therefore, there need remediation, continuous monitoring assessment waters before utilization recreation, crop production energy exploitation ensure environmental conservation human safety.

The widespread occurrence of atrazine (ATZ) in water environments presents a considerable risk to human health and ecosystems. Herein, the performance dielectric barrier discharge integrated with periodate (DBD/PI) for ATZ decomposition was evaluated. Results demonstrated that DBD/PI system improved efficiency by 18.2-22.5% compared sole DBD system. After 10 min treatment, attained 82.4% at power 68 W, PI dosage 0.02 mM, an initial concentration mg/L. As increased, exhibited trend initially increasing, followed decrease. Acidic conditions were more favorable removal alkaline neutral conditions. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) adopted characterizing active species produced system, quenching experiments revealed their influence on following sequence
