Abstract The present study aimed to use a novel method (i.e., network analysis) examine if the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale–Short-Form (IGDS9-SF) has its unidimensional structure supported across different subgroups, including gender groups, continent and age groups. Participants from five continents ( n = 545 in Africa; 27,910 Americas; 4640 Asia; 88,835 Europe; 1633 Oceania) completed IGDS9-SF. IGDS9-SF items showed positively correlated with moderate-to-high predictability (mean of R 2 0.338, SD 0.068). Moreover, analysis results suggested that is very likely have one-factor model. This model was further found be invariant groups (men vs. women), (Africa, Americas, Asian, Europe, Oceania), (minor aged under 18 years, young adults between 30 years or above).

Purpose of review This describes the diagnoses related to problem gaming that are included in ICD-11, published by WHO 2022. It summarizes recent literature on prevalence Gaming Disorder, its structure, antecedents and comorbidities, explores whether range currently available adequately covers experiences seen with gaming. Recent findings Overall, between 3 6% population worldwide reported have a disorder as defined ICD-11 or DSM-5. However, most studies constrained methodological issues such nonrepresentative samples use brief questionnaires determine prevalence. Disorder is psychometrically sound diagnosis.
