Municipal solid waste handling carries occupational risk for handlers due to exposure diverse microorganisms and hazardous substances that cause respiratory skin infections. A cross-sectional study was carried out, 150 respondents were recruited using a simple random sampling technique. Klebsiella aerogenes has recently been reported as a causative agent of folliculitis in men who have sex with (MSM). We present four cases MSM diagnosed Brussels, Belgium. Patients were aged between 25 and 50 years, all infected by single multilocus sequence type (ST117) strain. This strain carried the yersiniabactin siderophore genes. Following preliminary treatment sulfamethoxazole−trimethoprim for 7−14 days, patients experienced recurrence symptoms, necessitating an extended therapeutic regimen.

Klebsiella aerogenes is an understudied and clinically important pathogen. Information regarding Klebsiella aerogenes haboring carbapenemase in Japan is limited. A comprehensive nationwide survey was conducted from September 2014 to December 2022, and 67 non-duplicate strains of carbapenem-resistant K. were isolated 57 healthcare facilities Japan. Through genetic testing whole-genome sequencing, six found possess carbapenemases, including imipenemase (IMP)-1, IMP-6, New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM)-1, NDM-5. The strain harboring blaNDM-5 the novel ST709, which belongs clonal complex predominant ST4 China. integron containing blaIMP-1 featured oxacillinase-101 gene, a previously unreported structure, with an IncN4 plasmid type.
