Background/Objectives: Interincisive midline deviation is frequent. Determining the cause (dental versus skeletal) crucial for treatment planning. This study assessed null hypothesis that neither clinical dental shift nor temporomandibular disorder (TMD)-affected side correlate with maxillary/mandibular asymmetry. Methods: Thirty-eight CBCT scans were analyzed: thirty-five (92.1%) females, three (7.9%) males; mean (SD) age 34.6 (11.9) years old. Tomographic images acquired using i-CAT® Imaging System; mandibular/maxillary measurements obtained Planmeca Romexis® software v.6.This an ancillary of a trial (NCT02144233) included chronic pain (TMD diagnosis; DC/TMD criteria), fully dentate, and stable normo-occlusion participants. Results: We found sixteen (42.1%) deviations to right thirteen (34.2%) left. In population, was more developed: hemimandible length 119.4 (5.7) mm 118.6 (5.3) left sides, respectively (95% CI 0.21 1.51), p = 0.01. Conclusions: Neither affected predicted less developed hemimandible.

Background/Objectives: Excessive occlusal forces manifest in bruxism and have consequences on teeth jaws. The aim of this study was to determine the association with clinical radiological signs excessive forces, such as tooth wear, fatigue dental fissures fractures, abfraction, masseter muscle hypertrophy, bone apposition at mandibular angle. Methods: This cross-sectional included 181 patients presented for treatment a general dentistry clinic. For each patient, data were extracted from chart, follows: demographic (sex, age, smoking), (number present, Eichner edentulous score, TWI wear number fractured teeth, presence hypersensitivity), (bone angle). divided into two groups according or absence bruxism. A binomial logistic regression model run between forces. statistically processed SPSS. Results: In total, 99 women 82 men mean age 44.87 ± 12.67 study. Compared group without bruxism, (39.78%) showed significant higher index (TWI) (p < 0.0005), = 0.037), abfraction lesions 0.001), significantly score 0.0005). high prediction hypertrophy (15 times, p (almost 7 0.010), 3 0.044). Conclusions: Patients attrition-type index, more fractures abfractions than those Bruxism positively correlated score.

Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A), a potent neurotoxin, is increasingly used to treat myogenic temporomandibular disorders (TMDs); however, the interplay between muscle atrophy and pain relief remains incompletely understood. This pilot study investigated how masseter temporalis thickness intensity change over 12 weeks following BoNT-A injections in 15 patients (mean age 51.42 years) with TMD. Muscle was measured via ultrasonography across multiple anatomical positions under both clenching resting conditions at baseline 2, 4, 8, post-injection. Significant thinning of muscles occurred within 2 weeks, lasting until but became less pronounced after first month. Pain showed parallel decreases, most notably early on, these reductions were not consistently statistically significant. Correlation analyses revealed no strong persistent association except for moderately positive correlation anterior two (r = 0.61, p 0.04). induces rapid masticatory modest relief; outcomes do coincide. observed earlier than full development should be considered during TMD management.

Background: Bruxism is a common parafunctional activity that causes destructive effects on the teeth, periodontal tissue, and temporomandibular joint, leading to hypertrophy myositis of masseter muscle. This study aimed evaluate sonography findings muscle among women with bruxism compare them those healthy females. Methods: The statistical population this consisted 45 female volunteers, including 23 patients 22 subjects, referring Prosthodontics Department. Masseter muscles were evaluated by in each group bilaterally, at rest maximum contraction positions, longitudinal transverse planes terms thickness. It was also examined pattern (type I, II, III), echogenicity (hypo, intermediate, hyper), internal structure (homogeneous heterogeneous), fiber limits (well-defined, poorly-defined, ill-defined). Results: In three variables echogenicity, structure, boundaries bruxism, less (P≤0.011), heterogeneous (P≤0.003), indeterminate (P=0.000) predominant, there significant relationship between two groups. In addition, a machine learning (ML) pipeline involving Random Forest classifier was used automatically detect TMDS. Thirty parameters (including age gender) associated condylar process, articular tubercle, mandibular fossa, ramus mandible, space, were examined using CBCT. Well-known steps including scaling, feature selection, extension are build ML pipeline. Among 30 parameters, angle mediolateral axes both head medial pterygoid muscle thickness (PM T ), distance most superior point mandible fossa surface opposite, lateral tubercle inclination, depth mandible’s length, long axis coronal plane values showed significant differences TMD . Abstract This study aimed to identify factors that significantly contribute the chronicity of symptoms in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models were used for analysis. The include 239 TMD (161 women 78 men; mean age 35.60 ± 17.93 years), diagnosed using Diagnostic Criteria (Axis I). Participants categorized into: acute (< 6 months) chronic (≥ (51.05%). Significance clinical findings revealed joint (TMJ) noise bruxism more frequently reported than those TMD. visual analog scale (VAS) score, reflecting subjective pain intensity, was higher Additionally, had shorter average sleep durations their counterparts. STOP-Bang total scores (3.02 2.09 vs. 2.39 1.73, p = 0.012) Magnetic resonance imaging structural abnormalities TMD, rates anterior disc displacement (ADD), TMJ osteoarthritis, space narrowing. Using logistic regression—a widely recognized model—the AUROC predicting 0.7550 (95% CI]: 0.6550–0.8550). Significant predictors included noise, bruxism, VAS disturbance, score ≥ 5 (high risk obstructive apnea), ADD, Deep (multilayered perceptron) improved prediction performance by 3.99% over regression (79.49% 75.50%, 0.3067). These may help clinicians prevent symptom mitigate progression ultimately improving patient care.
