Addressing the global biodiversity crisis requires conservation engagement across generations. However, generational amnesia and extinction of experience probably threaten this effort, reflecting declines in nature knowledge, among younger We examined urban green area visit frequency, nature-relatedness, identification skills familiarity with species (plants, birds butterflies) pro-conservation behaviour intentions adolescents (15-17 years, mean = 15.97), young adults (18-29 23.72) older (> 30 40.54) Germany. With a path analysis, we explored relationships between concepts all age groups. Although groups visited areas similarly, skills, nature-relatedness declined progressively from to Nature-relatedness predicted Our findings support importance fostering knowledge through age-sensitive access opportunities connect learn about nature.

Community gardens are growing in popularity worldwide, especially densely populated urban areas. They provide semi-public spaces for joint gardening activities and serve as social ecological retreats. The COVID-19 pandemic associated restrictions movement leisure led to a changed demand green spaces, but it remains unclear how affected the overall trend community gardens. We measured interest participate between 2018 2022 based on combination of counted application numbers qualitative responses from garden coordinators. Out 373 contacted gardens, 70 replied, distributed across 43 cities Switzerland, Germany, UK, USA, Canada New Zealand. find an increase participation 2022, both memory-based participation. A generalized linear mixed model shows significant increases applications 2019 (19 %), 2020 2021 (25 %) (16 not (−0.32 %). These results confirm ongoing increasing with momentary reduced activity during due restrictions, followed by subsequent surge demand. peak 2021, along rise underscores crucial role urbanizing world, challenging times. It is essential planners prioritize meeting this part their efforts make more sustainable.

As urbanization accelerates, megacities are facing challenges such as inefficient land use and traffic congestion, particularly in the context of rail transit-oriented development, where optimization remains a significant research gap. Current urban planning still relies heavily on experience intuition government departments, without achieving quantitative, intelligent, scientific decision making. This study takes Panda Avenue Subway Station case to analyze evolution patterns around subway stations explore strategies enhance development efficiency spatial utilizationTo fill this gap, paper proposes CNN-AIMatch model based machine learning algorithm an enhanced PLUS-Markov prediction using increase decrease floor area ratio control measure, which adopts plot measure improve accuracy Kappa coefficient different scenarios 3D growth trends. The effectively overcomes limitations conventional 2D perspective predicting expansion. By simulating renewal ecological preservation scenarios, it provides innovative solution for pattern at block level station areas. goal is optimize through application model, intelligently respond high-density quality life assurance, achieve best land, promote sustainable construction smart cities.

Urban vegetation is essential for the quality of life in cities. Despite direct loss during urban expansion, urbanization can indirectly enhance greening through various factors. Yet, it remains unclear what conditions promoted these trends within We quantified greenness 294 Chinese cities based on satellite imagery (2001–2018), which we then explained with climate and socioeconomic indicators, particularly considering National Garden Cities incentive program (NGC). Results reveal large potential enhancing under densification, larger leading development. further show that effectiveness NGC promoting enhanced context-dependent, depending aridity, not sufficiently considered current policy. Abstract Exposure to green space is associated with both physical and mental health benefits, including the potential buffer acute stress responses, positioning it as a promising non-pharmacological approach protect cognitive functions against stress. However, urban residents often face significant barriers in accessing spaces, which are not equitably distributed. Virtual Reality (VR) technology offers solution by simulating that could be made accessible broader demographic. Here, we explored whether VR-stimulated dampen biological responses (i.e., heart rate cortical response) prevent stress-induced working memory (WM) impairment. Healthy young participants underwent induction followed 15 minutes of VR-based (N=36) or control empty (N=30) intervention. Although observed expected increase rates elevated cortisol levels under stress, VR exposure failed temper compared space. Further, did bring benefits performance across three WM tasks. Applying Bayesian analysis throughout enabled us find substantial evidence for absence an effect on markers performance. Our findings suggest VR-generated may effectively replicate stress-buffering effects actual exposure. We discussed implications our regarding limitations using responses.

The role of green spaces in ecological civilization construction has been increasingly recognized, particularly due to their multifaceted attributes and significant impact on economic development. Based data from 2015 2020, this study constructs an evaluation index system analyze the spatiotemporal evolution space quality its coupling coordination with development Yangtze River Delta (YRD), focusing three core dimensions: quantity, supply potential, accessibility. results indicate that YRD exhibits a fluctuating growth trend, notable north–south disparities. While degree between gradually improved, it remains state mild imbalance or primary coupling. Grey relational analysis reveals quantity greatest development, though expansion potential is limited, whereas influence accessibility significantly increased, fostering growing equilibrium within system. these findings, recommends stabilizing while prioritizing enhancement accessibility, strengthening cross-regional cooperation, maximizing benefits spaces, promoting high-quality region.
