ABSTRACT Cell-cell interactions are central to development, but exploring how a change in any given cell relates changes the neighbour of that can be technically challenging. Here, we review recent developments synthetic biology and image analysis helping overcome this problem. We highlight opportunities presented by these advances discuss limitations applying them developmental model systems.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have garnered significant attention in biomedical research due to their accessibility and remarkable differentiation potential. However, the lack of efficient convenient living cell monitoring methods limits widespread application tissue engineering therapy. Therefore, we present progress development a novel series fluorescent protein (FP) sensors based on turn-on biosensors (Turn-on FPBs), termed LV-cp biosensor system (novel live permuted biosensors). Utilizing phage display technology screen for affinity peptides specifically targeting MSCs chondrocytes, were engineered by subcloning these into proteins, thereby integrating fluorescence activation mechanism with achieving highly accurate detection identification two types using as "fluorescence keys." This provides simplified, nontoxic method replace traditional antibody kits, strong signals can be obtained through various devices. In addition, enabled dynamic observation chondrocytes changes colors.

Each year, the European Summer School on Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (SCSS) attracts early-career researchers actively practicing clinicians who specialise in stem cell regenerative biology. The 16th edition of this influential course took place from 12th to 19th September 2023 charming Greek island Spetses. Focusing important concepts recent advances cells, distinguished faculty included experts spanning spectrum fundamental research clinical trials market-approved therapies. Alongside an academically intensive programme that bridges various contexts research, delegates were encouraged critically address relevant questions biology medicine, including broader societal implications. Here, we present a comprehensive overview key highlights SCSS 2023.
