This study reports a metal-free, three-component synthesis of substituted indolyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole amines, their functionalization into diverse N-heterocycles, and theoretical evaluation via DFT analysis.

A one‐pot, two‐step, simple, efficient and eco‐friendly oxidation of internal alkynes as a key step towards the synthesis 2,4,5‐trisubstituted imidazoles, using an inexpensive I 2 /DMSO system, has been reported. A novel I2-catalyzed cross-dehydrogenative aromatization of cyclohexanones and anilines to synthesize N,N'-diaryl-o-phenylenediamines has been unprecedentedly developed with dimethyl sulfoxide oxygen employed as mild terminal oxidants. To prove the rationality two separate dehydration steps proposed mechanism, a resulting cyclohexenones diarylamines also reported.
