This work provides a screening of organic contaminants and characterization the dissolved matter in sewer network until municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), identifying areas with higher degree contamination their impact on WWTP performance, particularly activated sludge reactor. Three monitoring campaigns were carried out at six selected locations sewage system (PVZ-1, PVZ-2, PS-F, PS-VC, CP-VC, PS-T), influent (WWTPINF) effluent (WWTPEFF) WWTP. Advanced analytical techniques employed, namely excitation/emission matrix fluorescence-parallel factor analysis (EEM-PARAFAC), size exclusion chromatography carbon detector (SEC-OCD), liquid high-resolution-mass spectrometric detection (LC-HRMS). EEM-PARAFAC showed fluorescence intensity for protein-like component (C2), CP-VC (near seafood industries) associated presence surfactants (~50 mg/L). SEC-OCD highlighted efficiency removing low molecular weight acids neutrals. LC-HRMS tentatively identified 108 compounds emerging concern (CEC) similar patterns obtained all samples, except PVZ-2 (lower detection), many which occurred effluent. Eight CECs included relevant Watch-Lists detected WWTPEFF samples. Furthermore, 111 detected, classes more frequently found being alcohol ethoxylates (AEOs), nonylphenol polyethoxylates (NPEOs) linear alkylbenzene sulphonates (LAS). The continuous LAS NPEOs allied to concentrations WWTPINF 15-20 mg/L, location (linked food as an important contributor, explain morphological changes high content dewatered sludge, may have impacted performance.

The substitution of conventional organic solvents for others with less environmental impact is one the basic premises green chemistry. To carry this out optimally, tools based on similarity thermophysical behaviour are being developed. Thus, characterization new a key step in any field application. In work, we studied eutectic hydrophobic thymol + l-menthol system. solid–liquid equilibrium system and several properties three its mixtures close to composition were measured discussed. Calculations correlations performed obtain interest such as internal pressure, critical temperature, solubility parameter, among others. predict under operating conditions, PC-SAFT equation state was validated. Considering problem presence drugs micro pollutants environment, ability both dissolve remove them from contaminated water also analysed. results showed strong thymol-l-menthol interaction, higher ratio made liquid more compact structured but polar viscous. difference densities respect that moderate viscosity values indicated can be an adequate solvent liquid–liquid extraction processes. solubilities quercetin (Q), nitrofurantoin (NF) tetracycline (TC) enhanced mixtures; Q, 10000-fold than water. Finally, could used traces Q NF water, efficiency up 81 %.
