Abstract Chemical recycling polymer waste is a highly required technology to follow the current carbon‐neutral trend. Here, we present practical methods for poly (bisphenol A carbonate) (PC) and poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) (PCL). PC can be converted bisphenol urea with excellent product yield at 80 °C via ammonolysis using ammonium salt (ammonium‐formate or ‐carbonate) instead of liquid ammonia that usually used in previous recycling. PCL methyl 6‐hydroxy‐hexanoate monomer methanolysis catalyzed by KOH.

The homogeneous reductive depolymerization of polyesters and polycarbonates with hydroboranes is achieved the use an f-metal complex catalyst. These polymeric materials are transformed into their value-added alcohol equivalents. Catalysis proceeds readily, under mild conditions, La[N(SiMe3)2]3 (1 mol%) pinacolborane (HBpin) shows high selectivity towards alcohols diols, after hydrolysis.
