Based on kinetic theory, the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is a versatile computational tool extensively applied to simulate diverse problems. It has particularly advanced in addressing general fluid flow, multiphase scenarios, and heat transfer. However, there notable gap research concerning miscible fluids an urgent need for thorough discussions mass transfer via LBM literature, emphasizing alternative modeling over traditional force passive scalar models. Critical applications, understanding of mixtures extends from scientific inquiry engineering contexts. Hence, this review paper explores dynamic interplay between dynamics, focusing simulation advection–diffusion problems non-reactive multicomponent through LBM. The categorizes two broad strategies, single-fluid multifluid approaches, sheds light their distinctive collision techniques, connects mesoscale concepts macroscopic properties equations, such as viscosity, diffusion coefficient, Maxwell–Stefan Fick equations. In strategy, we discuss progress models relevance models, pseudopotential modeling, purposes. For multifluids, detail single technique split scheme, which, last one, suggest classifying into explicit velocity-difference (Sirovich-based), equilibrium-adapted (Hamel-based), quasi-equilibrium By providing comprehensive overview, text consolidates information regarding highlights directions future research, contributes establishing systematic approach mixtures.

Abstract The random motion (the diffusion) of guest molecules in nanoporous host materials is key to their manifold technological applications and, simultaneously, a ubiquitous phenomenon nature quite general. Type III porous liquids (PLs) consist of solid particles dispersed in a size-excluded liquid phase and are attracting much attention as novel media for applications such gas separation. However, the effects fundamental variables particle size on their physical properties currently largely unknown. Here we study series based Al(OH)(fumarate) (a microporous metal–organic framework, MOF) with sizes 60 nm, 200–600 or 800–1000 polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Properties examined include stability dispersion, viscosity, total CO2 uptake, kinetics uptake. As expected, both viscosity decreased increasing size. Unexpectedly, gravimetric uptake also varied size, being greatest largest particles, which ascribe to larger having lower relative content surface-bound FMA ligands. Various models kinetic data were considered, specifically adsorption reaction pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich models. In contrast pure PDMS, showed first-order kinetics, all PLs fit best model confirming that mechanism is more complex than simple liquid. Adsorption diffusion models, Weber Morris' intraparticle Boyd's model, applied revealed three-step process combination through surface layer rate-limiting. The rate follows order PDMS < PL1 PL2 PL3, showing take up rapidly does this increases Overall, suggests high fast large may be preferred.
