The bio-based solvent dihydrolevoglucosenone (Cyrene) is a green and sustainable alternative to petroleum-based dipolar aprotic solvents. Cyrene can be prepared from cellulose in simple two-step process produced variety of yields. compatible with large number reactions the chemical industry applied organic chemistry, biocatalysis, materials graphene lignin processing, etc. It also green, non-mutagenic non-toxic, which makes it very promising for applications. Abstract The green solvent Cyrene TM has emerged as a valuable substitute for conventional polar aprotic organic solvents such DMF, DMSO and NMP (renowned their toxicity environmental concerns). However, in the presence of bases, is prone to polymerization, thus potentially incompatible with reactions where base needed generate reactive nucleophiles. In this study, we developed an efficient synthetic strategy nucleophilic aromatic substitutions nicotinic esters Cyrene. success protocol relies on very short reaction time (only 15 minutes) which prevents polymerization from occurring. Indeed, not only outperformed typical DMF DMSO, but also, being highly soluble water, allowed easy purification desired products by simple precipitation upon addition ice‐water.

Abstract The niche field of photochemistry offers opportunities that are not found in “traditional” ground state chemical pathways. Aminochlorinated derivatives an interesting family 1,2‐difunctionalised compounds provide access to a variety natural products and pharmaceutical active substances. A practical, catalyst‐free chloroamination protocol is described herein, providing intermediates great importance, utilising mild photochemical reaction conditions (370 nm), where N ‐chlorosulfonamides used as both nitrogen chlorine sources. wide olefins, decorated with plethora functional groups, was tested excellent results (28 examples, 18–88 % yield). Mechanistic studies (UV‐Vis, control experiments quantum yield measurement) were also performed.
