ABSTRACT Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are a new class of organic‐inorganic hybrid materials that have been widely studied in the past two decades for their potential catalysis. (1) In this review, we comprehensively summarize synthesis, application, and advancements MOFs enzyme immobilization mimetic enzymes. (2) We also discuss design principles behind various MOF‐based biocatalysts, such as enzyme@MOF composites, explore utility reactions. (3) Additionally, highlight advantages MOF mimetics provide perspective on solutions to current challenges (4) Ultimately, review provides general overview most recent advances catalyst platforms, including biocatalysts nanozymes, applications.

Direct conversion of inexpensive fructose into value-added furanic chemicals via chemobiocatalytic cascades is a highly attractive yet challenging task due to the incompatibility issues between chemo- and biocatalysts. Among issues, solvent crucial make two worlds catalysts work well in one pot. In this work, we present an enzyme-friendly natural deep eutectic (NADES)-based medium for one-pot valorization valuable furanics 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). HMF was obtained with approximately 40% yield 64% selectivity within 1.5 h under 150 °C 15 wt % NADES (choline chloride/oxalic acid, 1:1, mol/mol) aqueous solution. significantly improved 91% by applying vol methyl isobutyl ketone/NADES biphasic medium. A NADES/unreacted recycle process designed improve both overall (77%) (72%). The NADES-based benign toward various biocatalysts such as alcohol aldehyde dehydrogenases, acyltransferase, ω-transaminase, evidenced good yields (86–97%) desired products subsequent biotransformations. Specifically, 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan from 41% isolated gram-scale synthesis. This may lay foundation sustainable manufacture high-value biomass.

Chiral heterocyclic alcohols and amines are frequently used building blocks in the synthesis of fine chemicals pharmaceuticals. Herein, we report a one-pot photoenzymatic route for N-Boc-3-amino/hydroxy-pyrrolidine N-Boc-4-amino/hydroxy-azepane with up to 90% conversions >99% enantiomeric excess. The transformation combines photochemical oxyfunctionalization favored distal C–H positions stereoselective enzymatic transamination or carbonyl reduction step. Our study demonstrates mild operationally simple asymmetric workflow from easily available starting materials.

Abstract Formulating a synergetic strategy to govern the catalytic function of dual metal sites is paramount achieving precise control cascade reactions. Herein, we construct dual‐site catalyst with Pt and Ru species localized in micropores mesopores zeolite, respectively. This architecture enables spatial separation nanoscale proximity. Compared mono/bi‐metallic catalysts, this 4.4–9.5 times enhancement activity during sequential hydrogenation nitroaromatics cyclohexylamine. Particularly, bidirectional hydrogen spillover assists between confirmed, where active migrates from less adjacent first/second step reaction. Characterization studies density functional theory calculations suggest that enhances coverage at for each step, thereby reducing energy barrier rate‐controlling step. intriguing phenomenon reveals mechanism accelerated presents an opportunity devising immensely efficient catalysts.

The global plastic crisis, with over 400 million metric tons produced annually and minimal recycling, demands urgent solutions. Photocatalytic photoreforming offers a dual benefit: converting non-recyclable plastics into hydrogen fuel valuable chemicals using solar energy under mild conditions. This critical review highlights recent advances in photocatalyst design, including semiconductors, MOF-derived materials, co-catalyst systems, explores key insights degradation mechanisms reactor configurations. Operational factors such as pH, light intensity, flow dynamics are discussed for their impact on yield product selectivity. Life cycle techno-economic assessments reveal current challenges efficiency, scalability, cost to illuminate the feasibility of implementing technology at industrial scale. study suggests that innovations catalyst engineering, management, system integration provide viable paths forward. With its potential upcycle waste contribute low-carbon economies, represents promising approach advancing circular economy goals, especially when coupled policy support smart separation strategies.

The creation of spatially coupled meso-/microenvironments with biomimetic compartmentalized functionalities is great significance to achieve efficient signal transduction and amplification. Herein, using a soft-template strategy, UiO-67-type hierarchically mesoporous metal-organic frameworks (HMMOFs) were constructed satisfy the requirements such an artificial system. key successful synthesis HMUiO-67 rooted in utilization preformed cerium-oxo clusters as metal precursors, aligning growth MOF crystals mild conditions required for self-assembly soft template. adoption long-chain functional 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid ligands not only resulted larger microporous sizes, facilitating transport various cascade reaction intermediates, but also provided anchorages introduction enzyme-mimicking active sites. A amplification system was designed based on developed HMUiO-67, which enzyme reactions initiated relayed by target analyte separate meso/micro spaces. As proof concept, natural acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Cu-based laccase mimetics integrated into HMMOFs, establishing nanoreactor. activity AChE triggered carbaryl, while amplified products catalysis mediated closely proximate spaces, producing further detectable signal. This enabled entire respond minimal carbaryl limit detection low approximately 2 nM.
