Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease, and current treatments often fall short, necessitating new therapeutic options. Baicalin shows promise in UC animal models, but systematic review needed. A search was conducted across databases including PubMed, EBSCO, Web Science, Science Direct, up to March 2024, identifying randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examining baicalin's impact on models. Seventeen studies were selected through manual screening. Meta-analyses subgroup analyses utilized Rev Man 5.3 Stata 15.0 software assess symptom improvement. From 1304 citations, 17 analyzed. significantly modulated various biomarkers: HCS (SMD = -3.91), DAI (MD -2.75), spleen index -12.76), MDA -3.88), IL-6 -10.59), IL-1β -3.98), TNF-α -8.05), NF-κB -5.46), TLR4 -0.38), RORγ -0.89), MCP-1 -153.25), MPO -7.34), Caspase-9 -0.93), Caspase-3 -0.45), FasL -1.20)) enhanced BWC 0.06), CL 1.39), ZO-1 0.44), SOD 3.04), IL-10 mRNA 3.14), FOXP3 0.45) levels. Baicalin's actions may involve the PI3K/AKT, TLR4/NF-κB, IKK/IKB, Bcl-2/Bax, Th17/Treg, TLRs/MyD88 pathways. Optimal outcomes predicted at dosages 60–150 mg/kg over 10–14 weeks. demonstrates multifaceted potential UC, attributed its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-apoptotic, intestinal barrier repair properties. While higher doses longer appear beneficial, further research, particularly human clinical trials, necessary verify effectiveness safety people.

Tea residues are rich in dietary fiber, most of which insoluble fiber (IDF). However, soluble (SDF) is reported to show a better health-promoting effect. In this paper, the Eurotium cristatum (E. cristatum) fermentation method was employed prepare SDF from tea residues. The results showed that yield fermented (FSDF) higher than unfermented (USDF). Meanwhile, an increased proportion galactose and looser microstructure were observed FSDF. addition, FSDF has more advantages USDF relieving colitis symptoms. effective reversing weight loss, colon shortening, tissue damage. it regulatory effect on level inflammatory factors (IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-10) oxidative stress (CAT, T-SOD, MDA). treatment effectively restored gut microbiota composition toward normal parameters compared by upregulating Akkermanisa Lachospiracae_NK4A136_group downregulating Helicobacter Alisitipes. conclusion, with E. contributed preparation efficiency bioactive This study will provide theoretical basis for development utilization
