Building 3D electrospun macrostructures and monitoring the biological activities inside them are challenging. In this study, fibrous polycaprolactone (PCL) were successfully fabricated using in-house electrospinning. The main factors supporting self-assembled nanofiber fabrication H3PO4 additives, flow rate, initial distance. effects of solution concentration, solvent, distance, voltage, nozzle speed on examined. optimal conditions 4 mL/h cm nozzle–collector 14 kV 1 mm/s provided a rapid buildup cylinder with 6 diameter, reaching final height 16.18 ± 2.58 mm wall thickness 3.98 1.01 one perimeter uniform diameter across different sections (1.40 1.10 μm average). Oxygen plasma treatment 30–50 W for 5 min significantly improved hydrophilicity PCL macrostructures, proving suitable scaffold in vitro cell cultures. Additionally, images obtained by synchrotron radiation X-ray tomographic microscopy (SRXTM) presented penetration growth within scaffolds. This breakthrough electrospinning surpasses current limitations, opening new possibilities various fields.

This study investigates the incorporation of melanin extracted from pecan nutshell residues into a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) matrix during electrospinning microfiber membranes. Melanin concentrations 0.5, 2.0, and 5.0% w/w were incorporated to enhance physicochemical biological properties fibers. The melanin-loaded PAN fibers exhibited significant antioxidant activity against DPPH ABTS radicals, with scavenging rates ranging 46.58% 62.77% 41.02% 82.36%, respectively, while unmodified showed no activity. Furthermore, membranes demonstrated antimicrobial effects. also an important enzyme inhibition collagenase (37%), hyaluronidase (22%), tyrosinase (36%), elastase (33%). Molecular docking studies reveal different potential amino acids active sites aging enzymes that interact strongly pigment, particularly collagenase, followed by hyaluronidase, tyrosinase, elastase. These results suggest novel possess promising bioactive applications in skin-care applications.

Abstract Accurate nanofiber diameter estimation is crucial for optimizing their functionality in materials science. Traditional measurement methods from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images are often labor‐intensive and subjective. This study proposes a machine learning‐based approach using deep feature embeddings to predict average diameters directly SEM images. Eight learning models—Linear Regression (LR), k‐Nearest Neighbors (kNN), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Neural Network (NN), Gradient Boosting (GB), AdaBoost—are evaluated 5‐fold 10‐fold cross‐validation. Performance assessed via Mean Squared Error (MSE), Root (RMSE), Absolute (MAE), Percentage (MAPE), R 2 . The kNN model consistently outperformed others across three datasets: smooth nanofibers, beaded combined set. It achieves the lowest error metrics highest (0.950) while demonstrating strong generalization morphologies. among first integrate with direct prediction, providing reliable alternative traditional methods.

Abstract The majority of carbon materials on the market are produced from polyacrylonitrile precursor fibers using high‐temperature oven processes. Despite approaches for green fiber precursors, current stabilization and carbonization processes require large amounts energy render costly environmentally not sustainable. Here, a plasma treatment is employed papers made lignin/polyvinylpyrrolidone fibers. process provides within timeframe few seconds, while degrees porosity, conductivity, hydrophobicity can be tuned. It shown that properties these carbonized suitable application as supercapacitor electrodes with capacitances in range 40 mF g −1 very good cycling stability dropping by less than 20% over 4000 cycles.
