A metal-free, biocompatible catalyst for the cycloaddition of CO2 to N-alkyl aziridines was easily obtained by protonating natural and nontoxic alkaloid (+)-cinchonine. This bifunctional catalytic system promoted synthesis desired products under very mild experimental conditions (room temperature atmospheric pressure) without aid any cocatalyst. No specific equipment is required, making procedure practical application in laboratory. The high synthetic value this methodology can be attributed combination excellent regioselectivity oxazolidinone remarkable chemical stability catalyst, which recycled reused at least three consecutive cycles significant loss activity.
