Smart aqueous two-phase systems (ATPSs) were fabricated using ferrocenyl and benzyl-modified poly(ionic liquid)s for the first time. The novel ATPSs found to be pH-sensitive. upper phase lower could inverted reversibly by adjusting pH value of ATPSs.

Abstract The studies of structure‐property relationship in ionic liquid monomers (ILMs) and their corresponding poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs) are required to gain deeper understanding tunable physical, chemical, mechanical properties. In this work, a series 2‐(alkyldimethylammonium)ethyl methacrylate bromide ([R‐DMAEMA][Br]) ILMs synthesized followed by free‐radical polymerization obtain the analogous PILs with alkyl chains varying lengths. introduction long chain induces crystallinity these ILMs, whose melting temperature, enthalpy fusion, increase increasing length alkyl‐chain. Exchange Br − bulkier NTf 2 leads substantial change crystalline behavior ILMs. bromide‐based show detectable semicrystallinity due presence crystallizable pendent chains. Both bromide‐ ‐based strongly birefringent crystals various morphologies but, give fibrillar morphology very weak birefringence. No such fibrils observed for PILs. Except exhibit upper critical solution temperature (UCST)‐type phase CHCl 3 , THF, / i PrOH, THF/ PrOH mixed solvents. thermoresponsiveness only THF. self‐assemble into vesicular nanostructures THF capable encapsulating model Eosin B dye.
