Kinetically Controlled Self-Assembly of Ag Nanoclusters with Enhanced Luminescence

Constructing
self-assembly
with
definite
assembly
structure-property
correlation
is
of
great
significance
for
expanding
the
property
richness
and
functional
diversity
metal
nanoclusters
(NCs).
Herein,
a
well-designed
liquid
reaction
strategy
was
developed
through
which
highly
ordered
nanofiber
superstructure
enhanced
green
photoluminescence
(PL)
obtained
via
individual
silver
(Ag
NCs).
By
visual
monitoring
kinetic
process
using
time-dependent
in
situ
spectroscopy
measurements,
assembling
structure
growth
structure-determined
luminescence
mechanisms
were
revealed.
The
as-prepared
nanofibers
featured
series
advantages
involving
high
emission
efficiency,
large
Stokes
shift,
homogeneous
chromophore,
excellent
photostability,
temperature,
pH
sensibility.
virtue

merits,
they
successfully
employed
various
fields
luminescent
inks,
encryption
anticounterfeiting
platforms,
optoelectronic
light-emitting
diode
(LED)
devices.

Emerging
as
a
promising
functional
material,
metal
nanoclusters
that
emit
near-infrared
(NIR)
radiation
have
garnered
significant
attention
due
to
their
distinctive
properties.
Nonetheless,
the
rational
design
of
NIR-emissive
still
faces
substantial
challenges.
Herein,
we
demonstrate
self-assembly
strategy
for
constructing
nanocomposites
(abbreviated
Ag9-NCs/PEI)
using
water-soluble
Ag9-NCs
(Ag9(mba)9,
where
H2mba
=
2-mercaptobenzoic
acid)
and
branched
polyethylenimine
(PEI)
(Mw
750,000).
The
Ag9-NCs/PEI
exhibits
excellent
phosphorescent
properties,
demonstrating
broad
NIR
phosphorescence
band
spanning
from
750
1200
nm
(NIR:
>750
nm)
three-component
microsecond
lifetimes
(τ1
2.22
μs;
τ2
33.31
τ3
230.76
μs)
at
room
temperature.
This
behavior
is
attributed
incorporation
three
triplet
emitting
states,
verified
by
temperature-dependent
steady/transient
emission
spectra
time-resolved
transient
(TRES).
More
importantly,
nanocomposite
also
demonstrates
exceptional
photothermal
conversion
with
temperature
elevating
promptly
22
310
°C
within
just
10
s
upon
660
laser
irradiation
(0.8
W/cm2).

phosphorescence,

in

rarely
observed
silver
cluster
nanocomposites.

The
controlled
assembly
of
silver
nanoclusters
(NCs)
into
tunable
coordination
polymers
(CPs)
presents
opportunities
for
functional
material
design,
although
stability-related
challenges
persist.
Herein,
we
report
the
synthesis
three
CPs
(1-3)
by
adjusting
reaction
conditions,
such
as
method
and
solvent,
facilitating
self-assembly
NCs
with
4,8-ethenobenzo[1,2-c:4,5-c']
dipyrrole-1,3,5,7(2H,6H)-tetrone
(BDI)
ligand.
Single
crystal
X-ray
diffraction
analyses
reveal
distinct
architectures:
a
one-dimensional
cyclic
loop
chain
(1),
two-dimensional
layered
structure
(2),
2-fold
interpenetrated
(3).
We
systematically
explore
hydrogen
bonding
interactions,
structural
stability,
optical
properties
these
materials,
demonstrating
that
spatial
arrangement
BDI
ligands
dictates
both
dimensionality
photophysical
behavior.
This
study
provides
new
insights
design
silver-based
enhanced
paves
way
advanced
applications
in
optoelectronics
molecular
sensing.
