We
disclose
herein
a
catalyst-free,
room-temperature
protocol
for
the
highly
regio-
and
stereoselective
alkenyl
C(sp2)-H
chlorination
of
diverse
enamides
with
commercially
available,
inexpensive
N-chlorosuccinimide
(NCS)
as
electrophilic
chlorinating
reagent
under
exceedingly
mild
conditions.
This
operationally
simple
approach
features
remarkably
broad
substrate
scope
accommodates
excellent
functional
group
tolerance,
affording
range
synthetically
valuable
geometrically
defined
β-chlorinated
in
high
yields
an
exclusive
E
configuration.

We
report
herein
an
efficient
cobalt-catalyzed
regioselective
and
stereoselective
alkenyl
C(sp2)-H
alkylation
of
structurally
diverse
enamides
with
4-alkyl-1,4-dihydropyridines
(DHPs)
as
the
alkyl
radical
precursors.
This
DHPs-based
approach
features
a
broad
substrate
scope
excellent
compatibility
functionalities,
giving
rise
to
geometrically
defined
β-alkylated
exclusive
E
configuration.
Preliminary
mechanistic
studies
suggest
radical-involved
pathway.
