Lignin, characterized by its amorphous, heavily polymerized structure, is a primary natural source of aromatic compounds, yet complex constitution poses considerable challenges in transformation and utilization. Therefore, the selective cleavage C-C bonds represents critical challenging step lignin degradation, essential for production high-value compounds. In this study, we report simple electrocatalytic approach valorization via bond developing nonmetallic electrocatalyst carbon-based materials. It found that hydrophilicity hydrophobicity have significant effect on degradation process. Under mild conditions, hydrophilic carbon paper exhibits 100% substrate conversion, yielding 97% benzaldehyde 96% quinone with ionic liquid electrolytes. The mechanism study shows catalyst higher surface defects favors electron transfer oxidative process bonds. These results signify substantial advancement offering an environmentally friendly, metal-free electrochemical route.

In this study, we present an electrochemical approach for the synthesis of guanidines from isothiocyanates and amines in a single reaction vessel. This one-pot operation takes place aqueous media, utilizing undivided cell setup with NaI serving as both electrolyte mediator. The process involves situ generation thiourea, followed by electrolytic guanylation amines. Under ambient temperature conditions, successfully demonstrated formation 30 different guanidine compounds, achieving yields ranging fair to excellent. Furthermore, method could be carried out on gram scale good yield. protocol stands its cost-effectiveness, step-economical design, high tolerance towards various functional groups, environmentally friendly conditions.

The cascade electrochemical C3-selective aerobic oxygenation of 2-substituted indoles and [5 + 3] annulation with amidines through an undivided cell galvanostatic method employing molecular oxygen "electricity" as green oxidants was developed. This protocol provides efficient direct approach to eight-membered benzo[1,3,5]triazocin-6(5H)-ones. Mechanistic studies suggested that two subsequent processes both proceeded radical pathways.

An electrochemical tandem cyclization of enaminones with amidines has been reported for the first time using dibromomethane as an initiating agent in undivided cell. Following this protocol, a vast variety polysubstituted 5-acylimidazoles were obtained moderate to good yields without use external oxidants. Mechanistic studies indicate that bromide anion, electroreductively generated from dibromomethane, acts redox mediator complete catalytic cycle.

An eco-friendly and metal-free method for the synthesis of tetrahydrodibenzo[b,g][1,8]naphthyridin-1(2H)-ones was established. Quinoline-derived dipolarophiles cyclic enaminones as starting materials undergo a 1,4-Michael addition/SNAr tandem annulation reaction affording target products. This approach features transition conditions, good functional group tolerance operational simplicity.
