Hypertension is widely acknowledged to be the most important risk factor for development of stroke. The INTERSTROKE study identified 10 potentially modifiable factors stroke that accounted more than 90% population attributable risk.1 alone 48% this risk, even among young individuals who had a before 45 years age.2 World Health Organization estimates only 54% adults with hypertension are diagnosed; those, 42% receive treatment, and 21% those treated achieve adequate blood pressure control.3
