The non-oxide BaGa4Se7 (BGSe) crystal with broad transparency range, large nonlinearity, and high damage threshold has been widely utilized to build optical parametric oscillators/amplifiers that convert the well-developed near-infrared pump laser around 1 µm into developing mid-infrared radiation. However, inherent narrow phase-matching bandwidth of BGSe a hampers generation ultrashort pulses. Here, we demonstrate by pumping 2 µm, it is possible achieve sufficient support pulses across spectral range. In experiments, two synchronized kHz chirped-pulse amplification sources centered at 2.35 3.1 are used seed BGSe-based amplifier, generating 52 µJ sub-four-cycle 9.7 µm. central wavelength generated pulse can be tuned from 7 15 finely adjusting wavelengths as well orientation. These results reveal enormous potential bright prospects for intense in long-wave infrared region.

Difference frequency generation setup for conversion of a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser pulse into the long-wavelength mid-infrared (IR) range with single HgGa2S4 nonlinear crystal was launched and demonstrated to be best, our knowledge, combination simplicity efficiency. In this setup, signal wave formed by spectrum broadening aforementioned under its filamentation in CO2 gas cell. The tuning mid-IR within wavelength interval 6-10.5 μm demonstrated. maximum energy 0.24 ps at 8 reached up 35 μJ an internal quantum efficiency 30%.
